Pixar and Disney Animation
Pixar brought its heaviest slate to D23: two sequels with first looks, one sequel confirmed, and the studio’s first ghost movie. Walt Disney Animation added Frozen 3, Hexed and Clay.

- Coco 2 first look: Miguel is a teenager now — Pixar showed the sequel’s concept art at D23: a teenage Miguel with Dante at his side, and Ernesto de la Cruz back for revenge. Benjamin Bratt is returning as the villain, and the film lands in theatres in November 2029.
- Incredibles 3 is confirmed for June 2028 — Pete Docter gave the first look at the story: Violet and Dash take centre stage, and the new villain outclasses the entire family put together.
- Zootopia 3 is official — Jared Bush confirmed the third film on stage, with Ginnifer Goodwin and Ke Huy Quan back as Judy Hopps and Gary De’Snake. The sequel’s post-credits feather was the clue: the city is going to the birds.
- Ghost Market, Pixar’s first ghost movie, lands Spring 2028 — the studio’s 33rd animated feature sends a Chicago teen into a hidden supernatural bazaar where the living and the dead do business. Trevor Jimenez directs.
- Frozen 3: Anna and Kristoff wedding, new villain — November 2027 — the sequel features a wedding, a new villain, a new love interest and new music when it hits theatres November 24, 2027.
- Hexed: Jodie Foster, Walton Goggins and a November 25 release — Walt Disney Animation’s new film stars Jodie Foster in her first Disney animated movie, alongside Hailee Steinfeld and Walton Goggins.
- Clay movie: Kieran Culkin voices Disney’s worst mentor in November 2028 — the animated comedy arrives in theatres November 2028 with Kieran Culkin leading the voice cast.
Marvel
Marvel saved its biggest moment for the stage: a full X-Men cast reveal, Doom’s Sentinel army, a first look at Ultron with a human face, and the show-floor costumes to match.

- The X-Men movie cast is finally here — Sadie Sink is Jean Grey, Kit Connor is Cyclops, Samara Weaving is Emma Frost, Christopher Abbott is Professor X, Inde Navarrette is Rogue, Maya Boyd is Storm — and Adam Driver is Mister Sinister, not Magneto. Jake Schreier’s film opens May 5, 2028.
- Marvel unveils the MCU X-Men movie logo: a yellow X for 2028 — the first official artwork for the film — a yellow X in a circle, the classic comics emblem, presented at D23.
- Avengers: Doomsday’s D23 special look shows Doom raising the Sentinels — the Comic-Con footage finally went public: Doom swats Stormbreaker, puts Thor through a wall, and raises an army of the mutant-hunting robots. The film opens December 18.
- Avengers: Doomsday shows Nightcrawler and Mystique costumes at D23 — first proper look at both X-Men costumes from the December 18 film, on display at the Anaheim Convention Center.
- Vision Quest’s trailer gives Ultron a human face — James Spader returns in person for the first time since 2015, and the WandaVision trilogy-ender hits Disney+ on October 14.
- Hugh Jackman pitches himself (and Ryan Reynolds) for Doomsday — “I’d love to join” — the Deadpool & Wolverine star made the offer during Marvel’s D23 presentation. No confirmation either way.
- Wolverine PS5 D23 sizzle: Sentinels, Omega Red, Sabretooth and Mystique line up — the September 15 game got its villains showcase at D23: the mutant-hunting robots and the classic rogues’ gallery, with Mystique confirmed alongside them.
- X-Men movie director teases Claremont-era comics and ‘something new’ for the MCU
- Avengers Campus doubles in size: Avengers Infinity Defense and Stark Flight Lab open in 2028
Star Wars
Star Wars brought the room its first look at the galaxy’s next big-screen era, and a trailer for Ahsoka’s second season.

- Star Wars: Starfighter — Ryan Gosling is Kade Auberon — Shawn Levy’s film screened its first footage at D23, set five years after The Rise of Skywalker. Gosling’s pilot finds a child; the rest of us get a poster reusing the original 1977 logo. Opens May 28, 2027.
- Ahsoka Season 2 premieres January 20, 2027 on Disney+ — the first trailer for the new season dropped at D23, with the premiere date confirmed for January 20, 2027.
Disney+
The streaming side of D23: an anime Kingdom Hearts, the Titans in Percy Jackson, Oswald the Lucky Rabbit’s return, and a movie question Disney won’t rule out.
- Kingdom Hearts is finally getting an anime series — ordered for Disney+ and Disney Channel, developed with Tetsuya Nomura and Square Enix, 24 years after Disney scrapped the first attempt.
- Percy Jackson Season 3 trailer: the Titans are coming — the first teaser for The Titan’s Curse debuted at D23, with an army of Artemis’s hunters introducing Walker Scobell. The season premieres November 20.
- Oswald Disney+ Miniseries: Disney’s first star returns in February 2027 — Jon Favreau’s three-part Oswald the Lucky Rabbit series arrives on Disney+ in February 2027.
- Kingdom Hearts movie: Disney Animation won’t say no — Jared Bush said a Kingdom Hearts movie is ‘nothing is impossible’ territory — no green light, but the door is open.
Other animated films
Two more animated dates landed at the showcase.
- Bluey movie: the Heeler family big-screen debut lands August 6, 2027 — D23 attendees got the first look at the teaser trailer and poster for the CG-animated film.
- Ice Age: Boiling Point hits theatres February 5, 2027 — the first theatrical Ice Age film in a decade, with Queen Latifah and Denis Leary on stage at D23 to introduce it.
Live-action films
Two live-action remakes got their dates — and Princess Diaries 3 got a status update.
- Lilo & Stitch 2 is coming May 28, 2028 — and Angel is in it — Maia Kealoha returns as Lilo; the sequel brings Experiment 624 into the live-action universe.
- Live-action Tangled release date confirmed: March 31, 2028 — Teagan Croft is Rapunzel, Kathryn Hahn is Mother Gothel — and the first footage made the room scream.
- Princess Diaries 3: Anne Hathaway says Disney is ‘working so hard to get it right’ — 22 years after Royal Engagement, Hathaway updated fans at D23: it is moving ahead, but there is still no release date.
Stage
One for the theatre crowd.
- Greatest Showman Musical opens at London’s Theatre Royal Drury Lane in Spring 2027 — Disney Theatrical’s stage adaptation of the 2017 film, announced at D23 with the cast performing onstage.
What was the biggest D23 2026 announcement?
The X-Men cast reveal drew the loudest reaction — Marvel had kept the mutant movie’s roster under wraps for months, and the video tease that landed on Magneto before revealing Mister Sinister was the moment of the weekend. The Pixar slate is the longer game: Coco 2, Incredibles 3, Zootopia 3 and Ghost Market give the studio its busiest run of sequels and originals in years, spread across 2028 and 2029.
D23 2026 announcements in the UAE
Nothing from D23 needs a UAE-specific release date yet — the theatrical films track the global roll-out here, and the Disney+ shows arrive the same day as the worldwide launch. The Disney Worldbuilders documentary premiere is the UAE angle for this weekend: it lands on Disney+ on August 20 with footage of Disneyland Abu Dhabi.
