D23 Expo 2026 has given the first proper look at Nightcrawler and Mystique’s costumes for Avengers: Doomsday, both on display at the Anaheim Convention Center.
The expo is Marvel’s first chance to show the film’s X-Men up close. Nightcrawler had not appeared in any of the film’s marketing before; Mystique’s look was already visible in posters and trailers, per IGN.
Avengers: Doomsday costumes, up close
Nightcrawler’s outfit is a long coat with the X logo across the front over a waistcoat, pinstriped trousers and a turtleneck. The mannequin holds one of his twin cutlasses in each hand, and the costume keeps the blue skin, yellow eyes, tail and pointed ears (ComingSoon).
Mystique is back in her classic white regalia — long sleeves, a high collar and a small tiara — the look already seen in the film’s trailers.
What else is on the D23 display
The costumes sit among a fallen Sentinel head, its green eyes still lit, propped in rubble beside a sign for Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters. The sign carries the school’s full address — 1407 Graymalkin Lane, Salem Center, Westchester County, New York — should anyone want to visit.
Red Guardian’s tracksuit from the end of Thunderbolts, Sentry’s bathrobe, Shuri’s Black Panther suit and Captain America’s classic costume round out the display. Marvel has also updated its Doomsday countdown stream with a new Doctor Doom poster and a Sue Storm voiceover, ahead of tonight’s presentation at the Honda Center.
The display is the clearest look yet at how the Fox-era X-Men will appear in the film, which draws characters from the MCU, the Fantastic Four, the Thunderbolts and the X-Men across more than 30 roles. Avengers: Doomsday opens worldwide on 18 December 2026, including UAE cinemas.

Confirmed returns include Professor X (Patrick Stewart), Magneto (Ian McKellen), Cyclops (James Marsden), Beast (Kelsey Grammer) and Gambit (Channing Tatum), alongside Nightcrawler and Mystique. The film’s cast spans more than 30 characters across the MCU, the Fantastic Four, the Thunderbolts and the X-Men.
Who plays Nightcrawler and Mystique in Avengers: Doomsday?
Marvel has not announced the casting. Alan Cumming and Rebecca Romijn played the pair in the Fox X-Men films, and the returning Fox-era cast so far covers Professor X, Magneto, Cyclops, Beast and Gambit.

D23 is Disney’s biennial fan convention, held at the Anaheim Convention Center in California. Marvel Studios uses it to display costumes, props and first footage for upcoming films; this year’s expo runs 14–17 August 2026.
