Disney confirmed Frozen 3 for 24 November 2027 at its D23 Entertainment Showcase in Anaheim, teasing a wedding, a new villain, a new love interest and new music. Kristen Bell and Idina Menzel introduced the threequel on stage on Friday night — the first proper look at a franchise that has taken $2.76 billion worldwide.
Anna will marry Kristoff, voiced by Jonathan Groff, with Elsa by her side. Bell called it a royal wedding that has “been a long time coming” and promised that “Anna and Elsa are going on their biggest journey yet.”
What happens in Frozen 3?
The first footage shows Anna and Kristoff on their wedding night, coming upon Elsa at a dock studying a mysterious stone. The stone opens a portal to a snowy dimension, which Menzel called “a frozen land more wild and dangerous than anything Elsa has ever created.” The story quickly moves far from Arendelle.
Once through the portal, the sisters meet a new character with no interest in pleasantries: a woman with short black hair and a wicked cape. Her face stays hidden, but she greets “the sisters of Arendelle” as though she has been waiting for them.
There is new music too. Bell and Menzel debuted songs on stage, and Josh Gad sang about Olaf’s true love — Samantha, a running joke from the second film that is apparently being taken seriously.

Frozen 2 (2019) left Arendelle in a different place: Elsa living in the Enchanted Forest, Anna crowned queen. Together the two films have grossed $2.76 billion and won two Oscars. When concept art for the threequel was first shown at D23 in 2024, filmmaker Jennifer Lee said “there were a lot of questions coming out of Frozen 2… It will take two films to answer them.” The first of those answers lands in November 2027.
The same evening brought first looks at Coco 2 and Incredibles 3, both heading to theatres in the next few years.
