Pixar has confirmed Incredibles 3 for 16 June 2028 and given the first proper look at the story: Violet and Dash take centre stage, and the new villain outclasses the entire family put together. Pete Docter revealed the details at the D23 Entertainment Showcase in Anaheim on Friday.
The kids take centre stage
Set shortly after the events of Incredibles 2, with supers legal again, the film hands the spotlight to the next generation. Violet and Dash have decided the way to prove they are ready is to sneak out at night and protect the city themselves. Their parents are not convinced, and Jack-Jack remains as unmanageable as ever.
“They want to prove that they are ready to be real Supers, and their parents aren’t quite so convinced. So they’ve been sneaking out at night to protect the city, and it doesn’t go over so well at home. To make matters worse, they are struggling to contain Jack Jack…”

Winston Deavor is back too, launching the Superhero League — “a heavily sponsored organization built on a massive platform of branding, marketing, and merchandising”, as Docter put it, “something we don’t really know anything about at Disney”.
A villain stronger than the whole family
Bob is having a harder time of it. Docter described a new threat taking a heavy toll on the patriarch as he grapples with his own relevance in a world of supers that may have outgrown him. Being legal, it turns out, does not mean being good.
Docter got as far as describing the antagonist as “a super villain with more power than all the family put together and all of the supers” before Edna Mode interrupted to stop him spoiling the film. The name stays under wraps for now.
Pixar marked the occasion with the first concept art, showing Mr Incredible holding up a collapsing structure while the city’s press corps photographs the rescue (more details via Cosmic Book News).
Who’s behind Incredibles 3
Peter Sohn, director of Elemental and The Good Dinosaur, takes over — the first film in the franchise not directed by Brad Bird, who wrote the screenplay and produces alongside Dana Murray. Craig T. Nelson, Holly Hunter, Sarah Vowell, Huck Milner and Samuel L. Jackson return, with Edna Mode and Frozone back for the reunion.
The date lands a decade after Incredibles 2, which took $1.24 billion worldwide and held Pixar’s box-office record until Inside Out 2. This summer’s Toy Story 5 has crossed $1 billion of its own, which may explain the studio’s enthusiasm for sequels — Coco 2 follows in November 2029.
