Ice Age: Boiling Point, the first theatrical Ice Age film in a decade, opens exclusively in theatres on 5 February 2027.
20th Century Studios confirmed the date at the D23 Entertainment Showcase in Anaheim on 14 August, with Queen Latifah and Denis Leary — Ellie and Diego — on stage to introduce the film, per ABC News. The “exclusively in theatres” line is doing work: Disney is not sending the herd to streaming day-and-date.
The film is the franchise’s sixth theatrical outing, and its first since Ice Age: Collision Course in 2016. The series has grossed more than $3.2 billion worldwide, per Deadline, and this is the first theatrical entry made without Blue Sky Studios, which closed in 2021. John Donkin, who directed The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild, takes the helm, with franchise producer Lori Forte on board, per the official Disney page.
The teaser, which first surfaced at CinemaCon in April, introduces Scrat’s baby and an active volcano. Ray Romano, back as Manny, has already given the decade-long gap its best summary:
The real Ice Age didn’t last this long. When we did Ice Age 1, I know I wasn’t wearing compression socks or reading glasses.
