Marvel Studios has released the new Avengers: Doomsday trailer — a special look first teased at Comic-Con in July and kept in the room — and it ends with Doctor Doom raising an army of Sentinel robots from the ground.
What’s in the new Avengers: Doomsday trailer?
The special look went online during this weekend’s D23 Expo in Anaheim. It reuses parts of the July trailer, then keeps going. Invisible Woman narrates, explaining to the assembled heroes who Doom was and what he has become. Doom tells them they are living stolen lives, and that he is here to fix it.
Then Doom gets to work. He swats Thor’s Stormbreaker out of the air and puts the God of Thunder through a wall with the effort of someone moving furniture. He raises a host of Sentinels from the ground — the mutant-hunting robots of the X-Men films — to stand around him and face the heroes. IGN calls it Doom’s true power on show; ComicBook.com says the machines rise to surround him as he fronts the heroes.
The robots built to hunt mutants
It is the MCU’s first proper look at the Sentinels. The July trailer opened at Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters, with Patrick Stewart’s Professor X caught in the collision of two universes; the special look leans further into the X-Men corner of the story. The machines were built to hunt mutants. Doom appears to have found another use for them.
When does Avengers: Doomsday open in cinemas?
December 18, per Marvel’s own trailer pages. The special look closes with the date the studio has been printing since the first Avengers: Doomsday trailer. UAE showtimes and ticket details are not confirmed yet — local chains usually surface those closer to release. Doomsday leads into Avengers: Secret Wars, Marvel’s only 2027 film per Kevin Feige, and advance ticket sales after the July trailer were already off to a record start.
Who plays Doctor Doom in Avengers: Doomsday?
Robert Downey Jr., who spent a decade in the MCU as Tony Stark, plays Victor von Doom. The Russo brothers, who directed Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame, are behind the film.
Why are the Sentinels significant for the MCU?
The Sentinels are the mutant-hunting robots from the X-Men films and comics. This is the first time they appear in an MCU film, and Doom raising them in the special look points to the X-Men’s role in Avengers: Doomsday.
Will the X-Men appear in Avengers: Doomsday?
Yes — the July trailer opened at Xavier’s School with Patrick Stewart’s Professor X, and Marvel revealed the first castings for its MCU X-Men team at D23 2026. Avengers: Doomsday opens December 18, 2026.
