Insomniac Games closed its D23 Showcase with a 42-second sizzle for Marvel’s Wolverine PS5, one month out from the September 15 launch. Sentinels, Omega Red, Sabretooth and Mystique all flash by, with Bolivar Trask providing the voiceover: “Let me introduce mutant kind’s extinction.”
Trask’s pitch is the trailer’s version of the story Insomniac has been building since San Diego Comic-Con: Logan, Jean Grey and Team X travel the globe to stand against the world’s deadliest villains, with Omega Red in league with Trask to hunt them down. The studio’s caption frames it as a fight for the future of mutant kind, which is the sort of stakes the genre runs on.
Wolverine PS5 release date and editions
Pre-orders are live on the PlayStation Store. The standard edition is $69.99, the Digital Deluxe Edition is $79.99, and a $10 upgrade covers the deluxe extras for anyone buying the disc: five suits (Incredible, Savage, Age of Apocalypse, Night Hunt, New Leather), five claw sets and three Technique Points. Pre-ordering any digital version adds early access to the Classic Brown Suit, the Reflective Claws, an extra Technique Point and four avatars.
On the UAE store the prices display in dollars; at the current peg that works out to roughly AED 257 for the standard edition and AED 294 for the deluxe. The game is PS5-only, the September 15 date holds worldwide, and Insomniac has already confirmed the disc is fully playable with 60fps and ray tracing on by default on base hardware.
What else D23 had for Wolverine fans
D23 had plenty else for Marvel fans, from the X-Men movie cast reveal to the Avengers: Doomsday special look — our hub rounds it all up. Wolverine’s own launch timing was set back in June, when the September 2026 release date was confirmed, and the roster has been filling in since — Lady Deathstrike was confirmed in the SDCC story trailer.
