iPhone 18 in the UAE: price, release date and what Apple is actually launching

Apple announced the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max at its 9 September event, and the detail that still catches people out is this: the standard iPhone 18 was not part of that launch. Pre-orders open at 4pm on Saturday 12 September, and the phones reach UAE stores on Friday 18 September.

Apple has split its iPhone line into two releases. September belongs to the iPhone 18 Pro, the iPhone 18 Pro Max and Apple’s first foldable iPhone, confirmed as the iPhone Duo at AED 8,499. The standard iPhone 18, along with the iPhone Air 2 and the cheaper iPhone 18e, has reportedly moved to spring 2027.

What Apple launched on 9 September, and what it did not

The reasoning, according to Bloomberg, is revenue smoothing: two iPhone launches a year rather than four phones in one September. For UAE buyers, the practical effect is simple. If your budget were around AED 3,400 for a new standard iPhone this month, that phone does not exist yet.

iPhone 18 release and pre-order timeline in the UAE

Apple has confirmed the dates. Pre-orders open on Saturday 12 September — a Saturday rather than the usual Friday — and the iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max go on sale in the UAE on Friday 18 September, in the first wave of more than 65 countries. Another 20 markets follow on 25 September, and our earlier reporting on an 18–19 September window lands on the right day. The foldable landed too: the iPhone Duo is AED 8,499 in the UAE, with pre-orders on Friday 16 October and sales from Friday 23 October.

iOS 27 arrives as a free update on Monday 14 September, with Apple Intelligence and a beta of Siri AI the same day.

iPhone 18 launch date in Dubai

The Dubai launch date is the same as the national one — Friday 18 September for the iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max, and Friday 23 October for the iPhone Duo. Apple’s Dubai stores (Dubai Mall, Mall of the Emirates, Dubai Hills) and Apple Premium Resellers such as iStyle stock units on launch morning, with in-store pickup bookable from the Apple Store app once pre-orders open on Saturday 12 September. Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Al Ain are on the same day.

iPhone 18 Price UAE: Pro and Pro Max AED table

Apple confirmed UAE pricing on the night, and it undercuts almost every forecast. The iPhone 18 Pro starts at AED 5,099 and the iPhone 18 Pro Max at AED 5,499, both with 256GB of storage, rising through 512GB, 1TB and 2TB as shown below. Analysts had been pointing at AED 5,950 to AED 6,350 for the Pro Max on the back of a $250–$300 rise; Apple held the line instead, and the 18 Pro now costs exactly what the iPhone 17 Pro Max cost last year.

That is a AED 400 rise on each model, roughly 8 per cent, at a moment when Tim Cook had already warned investors about higher memory costs for September. Apple Trade In softens it: AED 640 to AED 3,260 in instant credit for an iPhone 13 or later.

Apple’s own accessories for the new phones are priced at AED 269 for the TechWoven Case with MagSafe, AED 219 for the Clear and Silicone cases, AED 269 for the FineWoven Wallet and the Crossbody Strap, and AED 119 for the new Wrist Strap.

The foldable sits in a different bracket entirely. Apple has priced the iPhone Duo from AED 8,499, with pre-orders on 16 October and sales from 23 October. That makes it the most expensive iPhone ever sold in the UAE — the entry model costs more than a 1TB iPhone 18 Pro Max at AED 8,049.

What to buy if you want the standard iPhone 18

This is the real question for most people reading this in September, and the honest answer is that you have three sensible options.

• Buy the iPhone 17 now. AED 3,399 at Apple UAE for 256GB, and it is the first standard iPhone with a ProMotion display. It stays on sale and often drops at authorised retailers once the Pro models land.
• Buy an iPhone 17 Pro at a discount. Historically, the outgoing Pro is the best-value phone in the range for a few weeks after launch, particularly at authorised UAE retailers clearing stock.
• Wait for spring 2027. Reasonable only if your current phone is fine. Six months is a long time to hold a dying battery.

What we would not recommend is buying grey-market “international version” iPhone 18 Pro stock the week it launches. Those units carry no TDRA-backed UAE warranty, and the savings evaporate the first time you need a repair.

iPhone 18 Pro: the upgrades that matter

Apple confirmed the big one: the 48MP Fusion Main camera now has a variable aperture, with six laser-cut blades moving between four settings and manual control in a new Pro controls panel that also exposes shutter speed, white balance and a live histogram. Cinematic effects can be applied after capture at up to 60fps, and Time-lapse now records in 4K Dolby Vision HDR.

The other confirmed changes:

• Apple Reference Image. The new sensor signs every pixel it captures, and Private Cloud Compute develops an unalterable reference image you can hold next to the edited shot, like a digital negative. Apple is also adding support for the SynthID standard later this year to flag AI-generated and AI-edited images.
• A20 Pro on a 2nm process. A 6-core CPU with integrated Neural Accelerators, a 7-core GPU up to 40 per cent faster than A19 Pro, 50 per cent more memory bandwidth and a dual 16-core Neural Engine with double the AI throughput.
• A vapour chamber with three times the surface area of the iPhone 17 Pro’s, with the memory moved off the chip’s thermal path. Apple claims up to 40 per cent better sustained performance — the part that matters in a Dubai summer, and in long gaming or 4K recording sessions.
• Battery. Up to 36 hours of video playback on the 18 Pro and 45 hours on the 18 Pro Max. Those are the eSIM-only figures, and the UAE is on Apple’s eSIM-only list, so that is the version sold here — the space freed by the SIM tray buys two extra hours.
• A smaller Dynamic Island that shows three Live Activities at once, Face ID unchanged, plus the N1 wireless chip (Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, Thread) and the C2 modem, which Apple says uploads faster than C1X while using 15 per cent less energy.
• Four finishes: black, silver, glacier and a new burgundy. The Dark Cherry name that circulated for months was not it.

• A20 Pro chip on TSMC’s 2nm process, reportedly up to 18% faster and 30% more efficient than the A19 Pro, with RAM packaged onto the same wafer, per MacRumors’ running roundup.
• A smaller Dynamic Island, with leaker Ice Universe claiming it shrinks roughly 35% narrower than the iPhone 17’s.
• No under-display Face ID. Earlier rumours suggested it; more recent reporting says the technology is not ready.
• LTPO+ displays at the same 6.3-inch and 6.9-inch sizes, aimed at longer battery life.
• New colours: burgundy replaces Cosmic Orange as the signature finish, alongside black, silver and glacier.
• 12GB of RAM is widely expected, which is part of why the price is rising.

Where to buy in the UAE

Update, 7:00pm on 12 September: the retailer picture has filled out since 4pm. Sharaf DG and Jumbo Electronics both have dedicated iPhone 18 Pro pre-order pages up, selling at Apple’s recommended prices rather than undercutting them, and Jumbo is the only one attaching a bundle. Everyone else is either queueing customers or still not listing the phone.

Update, Sunday 13 September: a day into pre-orders, Apple UAE is still quoting 18 September on the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, so nothing has slipped past launch day yet — and the trade-in range has widened to AED 160 to AED 3,260. Launch stock remains pickup-only in store through an online Apple Pickup order. At the retailers, e& has started taking orders on the 256GB Pro Max, while du’s shop is still behind its waiting room.

Apple’s own UAE store, Sharaf DG, Virgin Megastore, Amazon.ae, Noon, iStyle and Carrefour all carry launch-day iPhone stock, and Etisalat and du take pre-orders on instalment plans.

Accessories worth pairing with it

Apple no longer puts a charger in the box, and the two accessories most people end up buying on day one are a fast wall charger and a magnetic power bank. Anker announced UAE pricing for both at IFA 2026, with shelves from 29 September — a week or so after the phones themselves.

The Nano Charger is a single-port 45W USB-C brick with a small display that reads out wattage, temperature and battery percentage, plus a Care Mode that caps charging at 80% to slow battery ageing. It has been on sale internationally since January; 29 September is when official UAE stock arrives.

The MagGo Power Bank 2 Pro is the more interesting one: 10,000mAh, 25W Qi2.2 wireless and a fingertip-sized fan inside to stop the pack throttling as it heats up. Anker calls it the first magnetic power bank with a cooling fan, which is a stretch — Sharge has shipped fan-cooled ICEMAG packs since 2024. The 50%-in-25-minutes figure Anker quotes was measured on an iPhone 17 Pro, so treat it as indicative rather than an iPhone 18 Pro number until we test one.
