Apple has confirmed its next event for Wednesday 9 September 2026, and the invite reads “Surprise and shine”. If you are waiting to buy an iPhone 18 that day, there is something you need to know first: the iPhone 18 is not part of this launch.
Apple has split its iPhone line into two releases. September belongs to the iPhone 18 Pro, the iPhone 18 Pro Max and Apple’s first foldable iPhone, widely expected to be called the iPhone Ultra. The standard iPhone 18, along with the iPhone Air 2 and the cheaper iPhone 18e, has reportedly moved to spring 2027.

The reasoning, according to Bloomberg, is revenue smoothing: two iPhone launches a year rather than four phones in one September. For UAE buyers, the practical effect is simple. If your budget were around AED 3,400 for a new standard iPhone this month, that phone does not exist yet.
iPhone 18 release date in the UAE
Apple’s event runs at 10am Pacific on 9 September, which is 9pm UAE time. Apple’s usual pattern is to open pre-orders on the Friday after the keynote and to have phones in stores the following Friday. Our own reporting has pointed to a UAE on-sale date around 18–19 September for the Pro models. The foldable is the wildcard: some reports have it shipping with the Pro phones, others suggest October because of manufacturing yields.

iPhone 18 Pro price in the UAE: what to expect
Nothing is official, and anyone publishing a firm AED figure today is guessing. What we do have is a clear direction of travel.
Apple currently sells the 256GB iPhone 17 Pro in the UAE at AED 4,699 and the iPhone 17 Pro Max at AED 5,099, rising to AED 8,499 for a 2TB Pro Max. Those are Apple’s own UAE store prices.
GF Securities analyst Jeff Pu expects the iPhone 18 Pro models to cost $250 to $300 more than their predecessors, which would take the Pro from $1,099 to roughly $1,349–$1,399 and the Pro Max from $1,199 to about $1,449–$1,499. He blames 2nm silicon costs plus DRAM and NAND price rises driven by AI data-centre demand.
Apple has given its own hint. On a recent earnings call, Tim Cook said that “for September, we expect to pay even higher memory costs” — and Apple already raised UAE prices across several product lines in June, some by more than AED 1,000.
Put those together and a UAE starting price in the high AED 5,000s for the iPhone 18 Pro, and low-to-mid AED 6,000s for the Pro Max, is the reasonable expectation.
The foldable sits in a different bracket. Ming-Chi Kuo and Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman both place it between $2,000 and $2,500, with some analysts estimating higher prices for larger storage tiers. A straight conversion is misleading here because Apple’s UAE pricing includes VAT and follows regional tiers that usually land above a raw conversion, but this will comfortably be the most expensive iPhone ever sold in the UAE.
What to buy if you want the standard iPhone 18
This is the real question for most people reading this in September, and the honest answer is that you have three sensible options.
- Buy the iPhone 17 now. AED 3,399 at Apple UAE for 256GB, and it is the first standard iPhone with a ProMotion display. It stays on sale and often drops at authorised retailers once the Pro models land.
- Buy an iPhone 17 Pro at a discount. Historically, the outgoing Pro is the best-value phone in the range for a few weeks after launch, particularly at authorised UAE retailers clearing stock.
- Wait for spring 2027. Reasonable only if your current phone is fine. Six months is a long time to hold a dying battery.
What we would not recommend is buying grey-market “international version” iPhone 18 Pro stock the week it launches. Those units carry no TDRA-backed UAE warranty, and the savings evaporate the first time you need a repair.
iPhone 18 Pro: the upgrades that matter
- A20 Pro chip on TSMC’s 2nm process, reportedly up to 18% faster and 30% more efficient than the A19 Pro, with RAM packaged onto the same wafer, per MacRumors’ running roundup.
- A smaller Dynamic Island, with leaker Ice Universe claiming it shrinks roughly 35% narrower than the iPhone 17’s.
- No under-display Face ID. Earlier rumours suggested it; more recent reporting says the technology is not ready.
- LTPO+ displays at the same 6.3-inch and 6.9-inch sizes, aimed at longer battery life.
- New colours, with Dark Cherry expected to replace Cosmic Orange as the signature finish.
- 12GB of RAM is widely expected, which is part of why the price is rising.
Where to buy in the UAE
Apple’s own UAE store, Sharaf DG, Virgin Megastore, Amazon.ae, Noon, iStyle and Carrefour all carry launch-day iPhone stock, and Etisalat and du take pre-orders on instalment plans.
Sharaf DG and Amazon.ae are usually the first to undercut Apple’s list price, typically by AED 100–150 rather than anything dramatic. We will publish a full UAE pre-order comparison closer to the date.
