Apple announces the iPhone 18 Pro Max on Wednesday, 9 September, at 9pm Dubai time, and the number everyone in the UAE is waiting for is the one Apple will not put on a slide until the very end of the keynote. Here is what the forecasts point to, what the current generation costs today, and the pre-order timing that could catch UAE buyers out.

Nothing below is confirmed. Apple has never leaked a price, and analyst forecasts are built on component costs rather than inside knowledge. Treat the AED figures as a range to budget against, not a price list. For the wider picture on what is and isn’t launching this month, see our iPhone 18 UAE price and release date guide.

How much will the iPhone 18 Pro Max cost in the UAE?

The forecasts cluster around a $200 to $300 increase over the iPhone 17 Pro Max in the US. 9to5Mac puts the iPhone 18 Pro Max between $1,449 and $1,499, up from $1,199. Counterpoint’s analysts land nearer $1,399. TrendForce, which estimates the iPhone 18 Pro’s bill of materials to be almost 40% higher than its predecessor, expects the Pro to keep 256GB as its entry tier rather than dropping to 128GB.

Apple does not convert US prices into dirhams directly. The iPhone 17 Pro Max starts at AED 5,099 against $1,199, a ratio of roughly 4.25 once VAT and regional pricing are folded in. Apply that to the forecasts, and the entry-level iPhone 18 Pro Max lands somewhere between AED 5,950 and AED 6,350.

StorageiPhone 17 Pro Max todayExpected iPhone 18 Pro Max

1TBAED 6,799~AED 7,950 – 8,500
2TBAED 8,499~AED 9,900 – 10,600

The uncomfortable detail sits in the top row. AED 5,949 is what a 512GB iPhone 17 Pro Max costs on Apple’s UAE store right now. If the higher forecasts hold, the cheapest iPhone 18 Pro Max will cost roughly double what the storage costs today.

Why is the price going up?

This is not the usual quiet annual creep. Tim Cook has already said publicly that price increases are unavoidable, blaming a global memory and storage shortage created by AI data centre demand — a squeeze he described as a hundred-year flood.

Apple absorbed those costs longer than Dell, HP, Lenovo, and Samsung did, then stopped: the Mac mini’s starting price moved from $599 to $799 without an announcement, and its 256GB configuration disappeared.

The iPhone 18 Pro Max is the most memory-hungry phone Apple has built, with 12GB of RAM and an expected 2nm A20 Pro chip. Those are precisely the components in short supply. Our earlier piece on Apple’s 2026 price increases has the full background.

When do iPhone 18 Pro Max pre-orders open in the UAE?

Apple normally opens pre-orders on the Friday after a keynote, which would be 11 September. MacRumors reports that pre-orders are shifting to Saturday, 12 September, with general availability on Friday, 18 September.

There is a second twist, and it lands differently here than it does in the US. Pre-orders usually go live at 5am Pacific, which is 4pm in Dubai — a civilised hour. Reports now suggest a midnight Pacific start, and that translates to 11am Dubai time. If you are planning to be first in the queue for a colour and storage combination that will sell out, the difference between those two times is the whole game.

  • Wednesday 9 September, 9pm Dubai — keynote and pricing revealed
  • Saturday 12 September (reported) — pre-orders open, possibly 11am Dubai rather than 4pm
  • Friday 18 September (reported) — on sale in the UAE

The UAE has been in Apple’s first launch wave for years, including the iPhone 17 generation, so there is no reason to expect a delay on the Pro Max. The foldable is the model with a genuine question mark on availability, and the reported supply constraints suggest it will be scarce here well into next year.

Where to pre-order in the UAE

Apple’s own UAE store and the Apple Store app are the fastest route on pre-order morning, and the only ones that reliably honour launch-day delivery on the exact configuration you choose.

Authorised retailers, including Sharaf DG, Jumbo, Emax, Amazon.ae and Virgin Megastore, also take pre-orders, and e& and du bundle the phone into instalment plans that spread the cost over a contract.

Two things worth knowing before you commit. Carrier instalments look attractive against an AED 6,000 sticker price, but the total paid over the contract is often higher than the outright price, and the phone is tied to the plan.

And grey-market importers will undercut every official channel by hundreds of dirhams within days of launch — with no UAE warranty, which on a phone at this price is not a saving worth making.

Should you wait or buy the iPhone 17 Pro Max now?

If the forecasts land anywhere near the middle of that range, the iPhone 17 Pro Max at AED 5,099 becomes the better value buy the moment its successor is announced. It shares a similar design, display and most of the camera system. The A20 Pro chip, the narrower Dynamic Island and the variable aperture are real upgrades, but they are worth roughly AED 900 to AED 1,250 only if you use them.

The one caveat: Apple usually trims or discontinues the previous Pro generation on keynote night rather than discounting it. If the current Pro Max is what you actually want, buying before 9 September is a defensible move rather than an impatient one.

How much will the iPhone 18 Pro Max cost in the UAE?

Apple has not announced pricing. Analyst forecasts of a $200 to $300 increase over the iPhone 17 Pro Max translate to roughly AED 5,950 to AED 6,350 for the 256GB model, rising to around AED 9,900 to AED 10,600 for 2TB. These are forecasts, not confirmed prices.

When can I pre-order the iPhone 18 Pro Max in the UAE?

Reports point to Saturday 12 September 2026, a day later than Apple’s usual Friday because the company avoids 11 September for pre-orders. Pre-orders may open at 11am Dubai time rather than the usual 4pm. General availability is expected on Friday, 18 September.

Why is the iPhone 18 Pro Max more expensive?

A global memory and storage shortage driven by AI data centre demand. Tim Cook has said price increases are unavoidable, and TrendForce estimates that the iPhone 18 Pro’s component costs are nearly 40% higher than those of the iPhone 17 Pro. The 12GB of RAM and 2nm A20 Pro chip sit right in the middle of the shortage.

Will the iPhone 18 Pro Max launch in the UAE on day one?

Almost certainly. The UAE has been in Apple’s first launch wave for several generations. The foldable iPhone is the model expected to be hard to find here at launch.

Is it worth buying the iPhone 17 Pro Max instead?

At AED 5,099, it is likely to be AED 900 to AED 1,250 cheaper than its replacement, while sharing the design, display, and most of the camera system. Apple usually stops selling the outgoing Pro models on keynote night rather than discounting them, so the window closes on 9 September.
