iPhone 18 Pro Max price in the UAE: AED 5,499, and when pre-orders open

Apple has announced the iPhone 18 Pro Max, and the UAE price is AED 5,499 for the 256GB model — AED 400 more than the iPhone 17 Pro Max, and several hundred dirhams below what the forecasts had been pointing at all summer. Pre-orders open on Saturday 12 September, with the phone on sale on Friday 18 September.

How much does the iPhone 18 Pro Max cost in the UAE?

AED 5,499 for 256GB, with 512GB, 1TB and 2TB tiers above it. That is a AED 400 rise on the iPhone 17 Pro Max, and it makes the forecasts look alarmist: 9to5Mac had the phone at $1,449–$1,499 and Counterpoint nearer $1,399, which at Apple’s usual UAE ratio would have meant AED 5,950 to AED 6,350.

Apple Trade In takes AED 640 to AED 3,260 off instantly with an iPhone 13 or later, which for a two-year-old Pro puts the real cost of the upgrade closer to AED 3,000.

Why the price went up at all

This is not the usual quiet annual creep. Tim Cook has already said publicly that price increases are unavoidable, blaming a global memory and storage shortage created by AI data centre demand — a squeeze he described as a hundred-year flood.

Apple absorbed those costs longer than Dell, HP, Lenovo, and Samsung did, then stopped: the Mac mini’s starting price moved from $599 to $799 without an announcement, and its 256GB configuration disappeared.

The iPhone 18 Pro Max is the most memory-hungry phone Apple has built, with 12GB of RAM and an expected 2nm A20 Pro chip. Those are precisely the components in short supply. Our earlier piece on Apple’s 2026 price increases has the full background.

When do iPhone 18 Pro Max pre-orders open in the UAE?

Apple has confirmed it: pre-orders open on Saturday 12 September, a day later than the usual Friday, with general availability on Friday 18 September in the UAE and more than 65 other markets.

The time matters more here than it does in the US. Apple’s pre-orders normally open at 5am Pacific, which is 4pm Dubai time. If you want a specific colour and storage combination — burgundy at 1TB, in particular — have your Apple ID, delivery address and trade-in details saved before that window opens, because the popular configurations slip to October delivery within the first hour.

• Saturday 12 September — pre-orders open, from 5am Pacific (4pm Dubai)
• Friday 18 September — on sale in the UAE

The UAE has been in Apple’s first launch wave for years, including the iPhone 17 generation, so there is no reason to expect a delay on the Pro Max. The foldable now has confirmed dates of its own: the iPhone Duo is AED 8,499 in the UAE, with pre-orders on 16 October and sales from 23 October.

iPhone 18 Pro Max launch date in Dubai

Dubai is on the same date as the rest of the UAE: Friday 18 September. Apple’s Dubai Mall, Mall of the Emirates and Dubai Hills stores open on their normal Friday hours rather than the midnight openings of the early iPhone years, and the Apple Store app lists in-store pickup slots for the same morning. Abu Dhabi (Yas Mall, Al Maryah Island) and Al Ain follow the identical schedule, so there is no advantage in ordering from one emirate over another.

Where to pre-order in the UAE

Update, 5:30pm on 12 September: pre-orders are open. The iPhone 18 Pro Max is listed at apple.com/ae from AED 5,499, marked “Available starting 18/09”, and Apple’s UAE store says the new iPhone is pickup in-store only for now — select Apple Pickup at checkout. iStyle is taking pre-orders at the same prices with up to AED 3,000 in trade-in credit.

Update, 7:00pm: Sharaf DG and Jumbo Electronics are now taking pre-orders for the Pro Max too, both at Apple’s AED 5,499 and up rather than below it, with Jumbo adding AppleCare+, an Apple Clear MagSafe Case, a Zagg privacy screen protector and a USB-C adapter to its bundles. du has put its device shop behind a virtual waiting room for the launch.

Apple’s own UAE store and the Apple Store app are the fastest route on pre-order morning, and the only ones that reliably honour launch-day delivery on the exact configuration you choose. These are the channels taking orders in the UAE:

• Apple Store UAE — every colour and storage tier, plus trade-in of up to AED 3,260 applied at checkout
• iStyle — Apple Premium Reseller, usually the strongest stock position outside Apple itself
• Sharaf DG — bundles and 0% instalments on UAE bank cards
• Virgin Megastore and Jumbo — mall pickup on launch day if you would rather not wait for a courier
• noon and Amazon.ae — worth watching for cashback and card promotions rather than a lower sticker price

e& and du also bundle the phone into instalment plans that spread the cost over a contract, and Apple’s own instalment option runs through UAE banks at checkout.

Two things worth knowing before you commit. Carrier instalments look attractive against an AED 5,499 sticker price, but the total paid over the contract is often higher than the outright price, and the phone is tied to the plan.

And grey-market importers will undercut every official channel by hundreds of dirhams within days of launch — with no UAE warranty, which on a phone at this price is not a saving worth making.

Is the iPhone 17 Pro Max still the better buy?

The gap is AED 400, not the AED 900 to AED 1,250 we were bracing for, and that changes the answer. For AED 400 you get variable aperture, Apple Reference Image, the 2nm A20 Pro, a vapour chamber three times larger and up to 45 hours of video playback. If you can still find an iPhone 17 Pro Max, the saving is no longer big enough to argue for it.

The one caveat: Apple usually pulls the previous Pro generation on keynote night rather than discounting it, so remaining iPhone 17 Pro Max stock is now down to authorised retailers clearing shelves.
