Microsoft is continuing its Windows 11 design refresh beyond the parts most people see every day, with older Settings dialogs next on the rewrite list. The Voice packages window and the Reset this PC flow are among the interfaces being brought closer to the rest of the operating system.
Windows 11 design refresh reaches the Voice packages dialog
March Rogers, Microsoft’s Partner Director of Design, said the company is gradually modernising older Windows interfaces. “We are gradually working our way through modernizing older UI in Windows and the voice packages dialog is on our list,” Rogers wrote, according to Windows Latest.
The Voice packages window sits under Settings > Time & language > Speech. It lets users search for languages and install their available voices, but its separate layout still looks out of place beside the newer Settings shell. Microsoft’s own WinUI 3 documentation describes the framework as its modern native UI platform for Windows apps.

Reset this PC is also due for an update
Rogers also confirmed that the Reset this PC interface is being worked on. The recovery tool still uses a Windows 8.1-era design, including the bright-blue “Choose an option” screen where users select whether to keep their files or remove everything.
The company had already said in May that it was “working through our list of all older dialogs and rewriting them in WinUI 3”. That work is being handled gradually rather than through one sweeping replacement, since older system windows can still be tied to functions that are easy to break when their front end changes.

Microsoft has spent the Windows 11 era updating visible parts of the desktop while leaving smaller utilities behind. That leaves an operating system where a fresh Settings page can still open a window that looks as if it has been waiting for its turn since Windows 8.1.
The changes should arrive through future Windows updates, but Microsoft has not provided a release date for either dialog. UAE users will receive the redesigns through the same Windows 11 servicing and feature-update channels as other markets; the timing will depend on the rollout assigned to each device.
Windows 11’s broader update cycle has already included changes such as the 26H2 enablement package and a local-first Windows Search overhaul. The legacy-dialog work is less visible, but it affects the system tools people reach when something has gone wrong.
