ChoSun Biz reports that Samsung’s first Android XR glasses will launch in the US and South Korea in mid-December. 9to5Google says they will come in Gentle Monster and Warby Parker styles, and Samsung hasn’t confirmed the date.

That would put the Samsung Intelligent Eyewear line on shelves before Christmas. Samsung is pitching it very differently from Meta’s glasses: “an extension of the experience centred on the smartphone, rather than being a post-smartphone device.” Samsung sees them as a phone companion, like a smartwatch, while Meta calls its own devices post-smartphone.

The glasses run Android XR, Google’s operating system for smart glasses and VR headsets, with Gemini onboard. 9to5Google says that should tie them into Android phones better than any rival. All the upcoming models have front cameras, like Meta’s glasses, though Samsung may release camera-free versions later.

There’s still no official price. In July, Samsung teased “a reasonable price” for a product “in the premium range.” Meta’s latest smart glasses cost $299, and the Oakley Meta Vanguard retails for $499.

The launch has been long overdue. In January, Samsung confirmed AR glasses for 2026, and on 1 October FCC filings tied models to both Gentle Monster and Warby Parker. On 13 October, a leak pointed to a 41g weight, 3K video, and more frame options, but Samsung hasn’t confirmed those specs.

With mid-December only weeks away, Samsung still has to reveal the price.
