Apple CEO John Ternus says the iPhone Duo is “constrained as of today” and Apple can’t predict when supply will meet demand. He told Reuters after Apple’s record fiscal Q4 results, 9to5Mac reports.

Apple Store shipping estimates for the AED 8,499 foldable still sit at late January, where they’ve been since the first pre-orders sold out immediately on 16 October.

Duo is constrained as of today… The ramp is going well, and we’re working hard to get it to as many customers as quickly as possible, but at this point, we’re not able to predict when supply and demand will be in balance.

John Ternus, Apple CEO, to Reuters

Ternus said “a very small percentage” of Duo units were returned with display issues, and Apple is replacing them with new phones. According to 9to5Mac, he was brief and repeated what Apple confirmed on 26 October: the inner display cracking is real but limited to very few units. Apple hasn’t given an exact percentage, unit numbers, or a cause.

In September, Apple said the Duo’s matte display should keep its crease less visible.

The Q4 results include no Duo sales. The quarter covered July to September, and Apple didn’t put the Duo on sale until October. Wall Street is curious about Duo sales, especially for Apple’s current-quarter revenue forecast. The iPhone 18 Pro Max sits AED 3,000 below the Duo, and our guide lists Apple’s UAE prices.

For now, the late-January date is the only delivery estimate Apple has given.
