Rockstar Games says its GTA 6 security measures now include privacy film on office buildings after drones were used to try to photograph through windows, according to an opening note submitted to a Glasgow Employment Tribunal hearing over the dismissal of GTA 6 developers. The studio says its security rules are unusually strict because of the game’s history of leaks and the attention around its November 19, 2026 release.
GTA 6 security: privacy film and restricted devices
The case concerns 34 dismissals: 31 staff in the UK and three in Canada. The Independent Workers of Great Britain union says the workers were unlawfully dismissed and targeted for union activity. Rockstar denies that and says the staff were fired for sharing confidential GTA 6 information on Discord.
In its opening note, Rockstar said visitors must sign non-disclosure agreements, contractors are escorted by security and remote working is severely restricted. Flash drives and other external storage devices are banned, photography at work is forbidden, and personal laptops, tablets and phones cannot connect to Rockstar’s systems.
The GTA 6 security operation also includes five full-time investigators and a director to monitor potential leaks. It also described phishing and social-engineering attacks against staff, including the 2022 incident in which unfinished GTA 6 footage was taken after a hacker accessed an employee’s computer.
Rockstar compared protecting GTA 6’s gameplay and design secrets with Apple protecting the iPhone or Coca-Cola protecting its formula. It also said it takes “the security posture of a Wall Street bank”. The studio’s filing says fans have monitored employee routines, coffee-shop visits, pizza deliveries and traffic volumes around its workplaces while trying to work out more about the game.
