Denuvo wants a court to unmask the cracker behind ‘voices38’. The cracker, meanwhile, has returned to releasing work. Three new releases have appeared since Denuvo filed its subpoena request, including a crack for Rebellion’s Atomfall.
Denuvo, owned by Irdeto, sued the anonymous cracker last month in a federal court in California under the DMCA’s anti-circumvention provisions. The complaint accuses voices38 of bypassing its Anti-Tamper protection on 26 games, including Hogwarts Legacy and Black Myth: Wukong. Per TorrentFreak, the company still doesn’t know who it is suing. The complaint lists only a Discord user ID, a Reddit account and seven Steam profiles.
What Denuvo is asking for
In a recent ex parte motion, Denuvo asked the court for permission to serve subpoenas on Discord, Valve and Reddit before the regular discovery phase begins. It says it contacted all three first. Valve and Reddit replied that their privacy policies bar them from sharing user data without legal backing, and Discord didn’t respond.
The proposed subpoenas are broad. Valve would have to hand over registration data, names and billing addresses for the seven Steam accounts, plus payment methods, transaction histories, IP addresses with timestamps, device identifiers and linked accounts. One of the profiles uses the name Enzo Favara, the lead character of Mafia: The Old Country, a game Denuvo says voices38 cracked. Discord would have to list the servers the account has joined and its roles there, while Reddit would have to produce every post and comment by ‘voices38’ and its subreddit memberships.

The motion also includes a declaration from Denuvo attorney Ryan Morris. He says the company found cryptocurrency transactions by the cracker on the instant exchange FixedFloat, involving Bitcoin, Ethereum and Solana. The declaration doesn’t explain how Denuvo tied them to voices38, or whether they reveal anything about the person behind the handle. Denuvo also doesn’t ask to subpoena FixedFloat, and the filing doesn’t say why. Judge Haywood S. Gilliam Jr. will decide whether the subpoenas go ahead.
The cracker is back
TorrentFreak reported that no new voices38 releases had appeared since the complaint, and that the cracker’s earlier response to the lawsuit was “All is fine. Everything will continue as normal.” That has since been borne out. On 7 October, a voices38 release of Atomfall appeared on CrackWatch, per PC Master Race Latinoamérica, at roughly 53.8GB. Atomfall launched in March 2025 with Denuvo Anti-Tamper.
Hours later, a rebuilt crack for Dead Space Remake followed, labelled “REAL CRACKFIX”. It isn’t a first-time crack, since voices38 had already worked on the EA game. According to the release notes cited by PC Master Race, it was rebuilt from scratch with the cracker’s newest tools to fix problems in the original release and the earlier crackfix.
A third release, reported by FPSHQ, covers Square Enix’s The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales, which launched on 18 June 2026 with Denuvo. A hypervisor bypass from the DenuvOwO group had already appeared shortly after launch. DenuvOwO has since reportedly disbanded, with a member citing the lawsuit as a concern.
The pattern shows the lawsuit hasn’t stopped the cracking so far, though it has plainly shaken the wider scene. voices38 matters because the method differs from hypervisor bypasses: it modifies the game directly rather than relying on a system-level workaround. Denuvo’s protection has also been repeatedly defeated this year, and publishers have started dropping it, as with Atomic Heart and 007 First Light.
Has Denuvo identified voices38?
No. The complaint names no individual, and the subpoenas would only be a first step towards a name. The court hasn’t ruled on them.
Which games has voices38 cracked since the lawsuit?
Atomfall, a rebuilt Dead Space Remake crack and The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales, all released around 7 and 8 October.
Does the lawsuit affect players?
Not directly. It targets the cracker, not people who play pirated games, but it may push more publishers to reconsider Denuvo.
