GTA 6 will need 210 GB of storage on PS5, according to PlayStation Game Size, an X account that tracks PlayStation Store backend data. Insider Gaming, which reported the figure, says it can corroborate it, but Rockstar hasn’t announced an official file size. Forbes notes Rockstar has not yet announced an official file size for the game.

The number arrives with the rest of the launch schedule attached. In its post on X, PlayStation Game Size lists the Standard edition at $79.99, preloading from 12 November and a midnight release on 19 November.

What 210 GB means in practice

The account’s track record is the reason this is being taken seriously. RockstarINTEL says it scrapes the PlayStation Store database backend for upcoming update and preload sizes, with details coming straight from the store. Beebom reports the 210 GB applies to both the PS5 and PS5 Pro.

The size could still move. Insider Gaming points out that a day-one patch is possible, so what you download at midnight on launch day might be larger than the preload. That’s an unknown until Rockstar publishes final numbers.

On a connection at full line speed, our back-of-envelope maths puts 210 GB at roughly 28 minutes on 1 Gbps, about 4.7 hours on 100 Mbps and about 9.3 hours on 50 Mbps. Real-world speeds, and congestion when millions of people start downloading at once, will push those figures up. Insider Gaming expects the preload to strain networks worldwide.

Xbox and physical copies

Xbox players don’t have a number yet. Beebom says Rockstar hasn’t revealed the Xbox Series X|S file size. TwistedVoxel reports the Xbox Store shows only an approximate placeholder figure, not a confirmed size. RockstarINTEL speculates the Series X version could be slightly larger, and that the Series S could be smaller if some 4K assets are dropped. Treat that as informed guesswork until the store lists a real figure.

Boxed buyers aren’t left out of the preload. Forbes reports physical buyers can also preload, because the boxed edition includes a download code instead of a disc. That settles a question raised by a January report we covered, which claimed physical copies might arrive weeks after the digital release. Rockstar’s pre-order plans, as reported since, point the other way.

Dates and what to do now

The dates match the schedule Rockstar set after the delay to 19 November. Forbes says Rockstar confirmed preloading begins on Thursday, 12 November, though it hasn’t given a specific start time. The midnight detail comes from the tracker; Beebom reads it as a midnight release in all regions, not a single simultaneous global unlock.

For players in the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Egypt, the practical step is to clear space and check your home connection before the preload opens. Khaleej Times reports the UAE PlayStation Store lists the Standard Edition at $79.99. We recommend leaving headroom beyond 210 GB for a possible patch and for any other games you plan to keep installed.
