Rockstar says GTA 6 will avoid direct references to real-world people, events and movements, narrative senior vice president Rupert Humphries said in a new LOVE Magazine interview reported by VGC. That leaves GTA 6 political satire in the fictional state of Leonida, delivered through campaign signs, robocalls and political talk shows rather than direct copies of current politics.

GTA 6 political satire will stay in Leonida
Humphries said Rockstar wants Leonida to feel recognisably contemporary without recreating the exact world players see outside. The studio has spent years building the game, he said, so a joke tied to a brief political trend could feel old by release.
“Because we are trying to make games that feel very specific to the moment they are released, but at the same time, not reflective of the exact world we live in, we don’t want to be too specific about any particular person, event, movement, or anything like that.”
Rupert Humphries, senior vice president of narrative at Rockstar Games
That does not mean GTA 6 is avoiding politics altogether. Humphries said the game will use campaign signs, robocalls, radio adverts and political talk shows to make Leonida feel lived-in, while its satire exaggerates selected issues rather than recreating a real campaign. A separate RockstarINTEL report on the LOVE issue also describes those details as part of the game’s background world. Humphries said the studio’s GTA 6 political satire will use invented, exaggerated versions of contemporary phenomena.
Why Rockstar is avoiding direct references
Humphries said Rockstar takes ideas that interest its writers, including conspiracy theories and public reactions to everyday events, then creates “slanted, overblown versions” for the game. The studio’s stated aim is to make the satire larger than life, rather than attach it to a specific politician or news cycle.
The comments add a narrative detail to the game’s broader world-building. Rockstar previously considered four protagonists before settling on Jason and Lucia, as covered in tbreak’s report on the game’s original character plan. The studio’s map has also been described as twice the size of GTA V’s. Those choices give the game room for a wide range of stories without requiring direct copies of real-world figures.
GTA 6 political satire will arrive with the game on 19 November 2026, according to Rockstar’s current release-date announcement.

Did Rockstar name a current politician it wants to avoid?
No. Humphries did not name a politician; he spoke generally about avoiding specific people, events and movements.
How does GTA 6’s political approach compare with GTA IV?
Humphries said national politics featured more directly in GTA IV because Homeland Security and the Patriot Act were central to post-9/11 New York. GTA 6 will instead place political material in the fictional state of Leonida.
