Google has published a 20-second teaser for the Pixel Watch 5, and its argument is that other smartwatches do not look like watches. The video, posted to the Made by Google YouTube channel on Friday, takes aim at the shapes of Samsung’s Galaxy Watch and the Apple Watch before settling on a round face that, per the narration, “has the decency to look like a watch.” The watch arrives alongside the Pixel 11 family at Made by Google on August 12.
“Imagine a watch that tracks your health, sleep and fitness… but still has the decency to look like a watch,” the teaser says, per GSMArena, which identifies the silhouettes being mocked as the Galaxy Watch and the Apple Watch. Google did not name the watches. It did not need to.
The watch itself is less of a secret than the ad suggests. A leak published on August 5 laid out the full line-up: 41mm and 45mm cases, each with Wi-Fi and LTE versions. Pre-orders are expected to open on August 12 immediately after the announcement, with the watch shipping around August 20.
How much will the Pixel Watch 5 cost?
The leaked prices, reported by GSMArena via mymobiles.com, cover the US, UK and Europe. There is no official UAE figure yet.

That puts every model about $50 above the equivalent Pixel Watch 4. The leak also lists 64GB of storage — double the Watch 4 — Wear OS 7 out of the box, and two years of free Satellite SOS.
What’s new on the Pixel Watch 5
Beyond the storage bump: slightly larger batteries, loss-of-pulse detection that can call for help automatically, and Gemini Intelligence baked in. The design is largely unchanged from the Pixel Watch 4 — domed glass, side-mounted charging pins, the same proprietary bands. Battery life is not in the teaser. It rarely is.
What it means if you’re shopping in the UAE
Pixel Watch 5 UAE pricing has not been announced. The Watch 4 is a reasonable yardstick: it currently sells for about AED 1,579 on Amazon.ae and AED 1,299–1,449 at Microless. With US prices up $50, expect the Pixel Watch 5 to land in the rough AED 1,500–1,700 range if local pricing follows the same pattern — likely confirmed at the event, which Trevor Noah will host.
