Trevor Noah will host Google’s Made by Google hardware event on August 12, where the Pixel 11 lineup is expected to debut. The former Daily Show host headlines a guest list that includes Stephen Curry, _Call Her Daddy_ host Alex Cooper, Indian cricketer Shubman Gill and Japanese actress Ayami Nakajo. The Verge reports Google confirmed the lineup in a new video.
Two years running, Google’s flagship hardware show has opened with a comedian. Jimmy Fallon hosted last year’s Pixel 10 event — The Verge’s Victoria Song called it more like “a live taping of _The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon_” than a product launch. This year’s edition runs from New York at 6PM ET, which is 2AM in Dubai.
What to expect: Pixel 11, Pro, Fold and a Watch 5
The teaser shows glimpses of a new phone and a smartwatch. Google has already teased the Pixel 11 Pro and Pixel 11 Pro Fold, and leaked renders and specs have been circulating for weeks. Expect the Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro Fold and Pixel Watch 5.
The price story: more money, less memory
The phones are expected to cost more. Google’s vice president of devices, Shakil Barkat, told 9to5Google that the Pixel 11 will cost more than the Pixel 10:
“We’ve shielded our consumers from supply fluctuations for as long as possible. The economics have fundamentally shifted and we’re not immune to that.”
Pricing “adjustments”, he said, would be “rolled out dynamically to match supply realities” — corporate phrasing for the global memory shortage that has already raised prices from Apple to Nintendo. Leaks point to a base Pixel 11 at $899 with 256GB of storage (up from 128GB), the Pro at $1,099 and the Pro XL at $1,299 — with RAM cut from 16GB to 12GB across the Pro range. The base model reportedly drops the telephoto camera too.
What it means if you’re in the UAE
Trevor Noah is already booked at Dubai Opera for two nights on November 25 and 26, with tickets from AED 295 — a local encore for anyone who stays up for the stream.
The UAE does not get the Google Store, but it gets the phones. Pixels sell here through retailers and importers, and the price hike will land on those shelves too: the Pixel 10 currently goes for around AED 2,250–2,500 from UAE retailers. UAE pricing for the Pixel 11 has not been announced, but tbreak’s Pixel 11 event coverage has the details so far, and the Pixel 10a’s local price suggests the mid-range is not immune either.
