Amazon has renamed Kindle Unlimited to Kindle+. The reading subscription keeps books and selected audiobooks under one membership, while Amazon’s publishing guidance sets out how independently published audio editions can join the catalogue. Those KDP audiobook distribution rules currently apply to the US marketplace.
US membership costs $11.99 a month plus tax. Subscribers can borrow up to 20 eligible books, audiobooks and comics at a time, with no return deadline while their membership remains active. The subscription is separate from Amazon Prime.
Which audiobooks are included?
Amazon’s KDP Select guidance explains how audio enrolment works. Virtual-voice audiobooks are automatically enrolled when their corresponding ebooks are enrolled in KDP Select. Audiobooks distributed through ACX can also participate, but publishers can remove those audio editions from the programme separately from their ebooks.
That doesn’t give every Kindle book an audiobook. Readers should look for a headphone icon beside the Kindle+ badge to identify titles with included audio.

Do you need a Kindle device?
The free Kindle app lets subscribers read on phones, tablets and computers, so buying one of Amazon’s recently refreshed Kindle devices isn’t required. Amazon’s UK guide also confirms that borrowed titles remain accessible until the next billing date after cancellation.
The US price and KDP audio rules shouldn’t be read as a UAE launch announcement. Kindle+ is also distinct from the Digital Arabic Library created with Abu Dhabi’s Arabic Language Centre, which is a storefront rather than this subscription.
Is Kindle+ included with Prime?
No. It requires a separate subscription.
Do borrowed books remain available after cancelling?
Access ends on your next billing date, rather than immediately when you cancel.
Can KDP authors distribute their audiobooks worldwide through Kindle+?
KDP currently specifies US-marketplace distribution. That restriction concerns this publishing programme and does not establish a UAE rollout.
