Samsung has announced the Galaxy SmartTag3 with iPhone support, a smaller body and longer-range finding on selected Galaxy phones. For anyone sharing luggage between an iPhone and a Samsung handset, that opens up a useful option. UAE buyers still have to wait: Samsung has confirmed launches in Korea and the US, but no local date or AED price.

iPhone support comes with limits
According to Samsung’s global announcement, supported Galaxy and iOS devices can check and share a tag’s location and use Search Nearby through SmartThings Find. A family member borrowing your suitcase can therefore access supported tracking features without owning the same kind of phone.
The feature list changes on iPhone. Compass View, Ring Phone, and Left Behind Alert aren’t available on iOS, so cross-platform support doesn’t give every user the same tools. If you are comparing ecosystems, our coverage of Belkin’s SureFind trackers for Apple and Google phones offers another way to choose a tracking network.
Longer-range finding needs the right Galaxy
Samsung says Bluetooth 6.0 Channel Sounding extends Compass View’s distance and directional guidance to up to 60 metres, with UWB providing finer positioning as you get closer. That range was measured with a clear line of sight. Walls, interference and other obstructions can reduce both range and accuracy.
Compass View requires a Galaxy device running Android 12 or later with UWB or Bluetooth Channel Sounding. Samsung currently lists Channel Sounding support on the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Z Fold8, S26 Ultra and S26 Plus. Check your exact handset before treating the headline range as a reason to upgrade.
Beyond your phone’s direct connection, the Galaxy Find Network uses nearby participating Galaxy devices to report the tag’s location. Samsung puts that network at more than 900 million devices worldwide, but update timing still depends on nearby devices, their settings and network conditions. A bag moving through an airport will not necessarily produce continuous location updates.
Smaller design, longer claimed battery life
SmartTag3 is about 35% smaller by volume and 33% lighter than its predecessor. The rounded design follows the SmartTag 3 redesign reported earlier. Samsung has now confirmed black and white versions, plus separately sold Silicone and Loop cases.
Samsung estimates up to 550 days of standard use from the CR2032 battery, or 790 days in Power Saving Mode. These are simulated figures from internal testing of pre-release hardware, rather than our own measurements. Usage, surroundings and replacement batteries affect endurance, while Power Saving Mode can disable Compass View and other settings, leaving basic Bluetooth LE finding.
New Place Notifications can alert you when a tag enters or leaves a chosen area, although Samsung labels this a trial feature. Location History retains up to seven days of records. Movement alerts depend on nearby Galaxy devices that are participating while the tag is disconnected, so notifications can arrive late or not at all.
Galaxy SmartTag3 price and UAE availability
The US announcement confirms the dollar prices and November window, while Samsung’s global release puts Korea first. Neither establishes a UAE launch.
| Market | Announced availability | Announced price |
|---|---|---|
| Korea | 7 October 2026 | Not stated in the reviewed releases |
| United States | Early November 2026 | US$29.99 single; US$99.99 four-pack |
| Additional markets | 2027; countries unspecified | Not announced |
| UAE | No confirmed local date | No confirmed AED price |
For UAE shoppers, the immediate decision is whether these phone-specific features are worth waiting for. The US price is a reference point, but local pricing, retailer availability and accessory costs still need confirmation.
