Google Meet and Teams interoperability is now generally available for Android/AOSP meeting-room hardware, letting supported Google Meet rooms join Microsoft Teams calls, and Android-based Teams Rooms join Google Meet calls. Google began the general rollout on 1 October and says the feature may take one to three days to appear.
Google lists eligible customers as all Workspace customers with Android/AOSP Google Meet hardware. Android Authority reports that the Android requirement applies to dedicated meeting-room devices, not the Meet or Teams apps on phones and tablets. Google’s Meet hardware page shows a standard room setup with in-person and remote participants.

Google Meet and Teams interoperability expands the room-system options
This Android update extends an earlier arrangement: Google’s September preview notice says interoperability was already available on ChromeOS-based Meet Rooms and Windows-based Teams Rooms. The October rollout adds Android-based room hardware.
The Google Meet and Teams interoperability works both ways: Meet hardware can join Teams meetings, and Android-based Teams Rooms can join Meet calls. For the Meet-to-Teams route, a Teams meeting can appear on the room’s calendar, or users can enter the meeting ID and passcode. Google’s setup instructions cover both options.
What IT teams should check
Google says Meet hardware can join Teams calls at no additional cost, and the setting is on by default. Administrators can disable it for an organisational unit through the Admin console, according to Google’s admin documentation.
For UAE offices with both platforms in their meeting rooms, the key check is the room system itself: it must run Android/AOSP. This is a software compatibility update, not a new device launch or an option for phones and tablets. Organisations comparing room hardware can also read about Huawei’s IdeaHub S3 meeting-room display in the UAE.
Will this change an existing Pexip setup?
No. Google said the Android interoperability launch does not replace existing Pexip settings already assigned to an organisational unit. Pexip Connect remains a separate option for SIP meetings.
Will every Microsoft Teams feature work from a Google Meet room?
Not necessarily. Google notes that some Teams features might not work on Meet hardware. Organisations should test the specific meeting controls they rely on before changing room workflows.
