Meta has shown the Meta Muse Charm, a small standalone device that gives users direct access to its Muse AI agent without opening a phone app. The keychain-sized gadget has a display, a camera and several microphones, and is planned to ship in December. Meta Muse Charm: what it does
The device was revealed by Mark Zuckerberg during Meta Connect as a compact home for Muse, Meta’s personal AI agent. A fingerprint sensor on the top right activates the device, letting users speak to Muse without unlocking a phone. The screen shows a small animated avatar, giving the assistant a face rather than leaving it as another voice in the cloud.
The Verge reports that the Charm also includes a small camera and at least three microphone openings. Meta has not explained how the device connects to its servers, whether it has its own mobile connection, or how much battery it carries. The company still needs to finalise the device’s finishing material and has built only a few units so far.
A physical home for Meta’s AI agent
Meta introduced Muse earlier this month as an agent that can work across apps, browse the web and handle tasks with user approval. The official announcement says Muse runs inside a dedicated secure virtual machine and can continue working on longer tasks after a user closes the app.
The Charm turns that software into a small object that can be carried in a pocket or attached to a keychain. TechCrunch reports that Meta describes the device as a way to talk to Muse when users are not wearing its AI glasses. That gives Meta another hardware route for the same assistant, although the company has not shown enough of the product to judge its privacy controls or everyday usefulness.
