Samsung has not announced One UI 9.5. The screenshots were posted on X by leaker Fahad Ali Javed and collected by SamMobile; the software information screen shows One UI 9.5 over Android 17, codenamed CinnamonBun, on an SM-S942B Galaxy S26, with a Google Play system update dated 1 October 2026.
What the leaked update screen shows
Download and install controls stay where they were, but they now sit inside floating card containers with high-radius corners, pill-shaped buttons and noticeably more padding. Layered translucency gives the cards depth over the wallpaper, in light and dark themes alike. Below the header, the sections for app updates and update information use larger type than One UI 9’s dense blocks.
The banner art is the tell. One UI 8.5 introduced these screen-filling banners built on bold circles; One UI 9 rearranged the circles to spell out the number nine; the One UI 9.5 asset drops circles entirely for three curved pink lines. NokiaPowerUser has the full first look at the redesign.
It is one screen from a build Samsung never meant to ship, so none of this is settled.
Where the design language is heading
Samsung has form for testing its design language on minor system screens before letting it loose across the OS. If the rounded-card treatment holds, expect it in Device Care, Battery settings and the stock apps by the time One UI 9.5 arrives — the same arc that carried One UI 8.5’s design into the beta that reached the Galaxy S25.
The same firmware reportedly carries a working App Lock feature, a first for One UI, alongside the visual changes.
One UI 9.5 timing
One UI 9.5 is expected to debut with the Galaxy S27 series in the first quarter of 2027. A public beta for current flagships could still land before the end of this year, while One UI 9.0 stable is only just beginning to roll out to devices running Android 17.
For UAE owners, that makes One UI 9 the update actually on the way to Galaxy phones this year. One UI 9.5 is next year’s concern — if the beta shows up before then, this is what it will look like.
