Samsung Ramps Galaxy Z Fold8 Production to 3.8M Units

Samsung has ordered a million extra Galaxy Z Fold 8 units after pre-orders ran ahead of forecasts. The wide-screen foldable is on sale in the UAE from AED 7,199.

Samsung has ordered an extra one million Galaxy Z Fold 8 units after pre-orders ran ahead of its forecasts, taking the production target to 3.8 million. Korean outlet ETNews reports the top-up was placed this week, on top of an initial target of 2.8 million, per 9to5Google.

Why Samsung ordered a million more Galaxy Z Fold 8s

The wider, shorter Fold8 is the reason. Its 5.5-inch cover screen (10:16) and 7.6-inch main display (4:3) cut the letterboxing that video on older Folds demanded, and buyers have responded. Samsung’s foldable trio — the Fold8, Fold8 Ultra and Flip8 — is expected to near five million pre-orders worldwide, a figure that would beat the record set by the Galaxy Note 10 series. The standard Fold8 accounts for roughly 59% of the lineup’s global pre-orders, per SamMobile, and Samsung says orders for the new foldables are up more than 30% on the previous generation. Some variants sold out or slipped into heavy delays during the pre-order window that ended last week.

Production was already running ahead of previous generations before this top-up, per ETNews. The extra million units is Samsung covering a launch that has behaved more like a mass-market hit than a niche premium one — and one with a rival in the same shape arriving shortly. Apple’s first foldable iPhone, due in September, uses the same wide form factor.

What it means in the UAE

The Fold8 went on general sale in the UAE on 7 August, from AED 7,199 for 256GB (AED 7,999 for 512GB, AED 9,599 for 1TB), with the Flip8 at AED 4,699 and the Fold8 Ultra from AED 7,999. Full UAE pricing and live retailer offers sit in our Galaxy Z Fold8 series hub.

The production boost matters here for one reason: with pre-orders across 106 markets running ahead of supply, the extra million units is what keeps regional shelves stocked rather than waitlisted. Pre-orders opened in the UAE on 22 July and closed on 6 August, with Samsung’s own figures showing global demand up more than 30% on the Fold7 generation.
