There can be 100 more X-Men movies, IGN reports, with Kevin Feige making the case at D23\’s Disney Worldbuilders panel: “sagas upon sagas” of comic book history are still to adapt.
The comments followed the reboot’s cast reveal at the same event: Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, Kit Connor as Cyclops, Christopher Abbott as Professor Xavier, Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, Inde Navarrette as Rogue and Maya Boyd as Storm, under director Jake Schreier.

How Many More X-Men Movies Could There Be?
Feige counts ten great X-Men movies from Fox’s run so far; he is planning for a hundred. The comics have been publishing since 1963, so the source material is not the bottleneck. His remarks were reported by Murphy\’s Multiverse.
“Having 85, almost 90 years of comic book history, there’s so many stories yet to tell. We announced a very young, new cast for a property called X-Men the other day. And that’s great, because there’s been 10 great X-Men movies [but] there can be 100 more.”
“There’s sagas, upon sagas, with these comics that haven’t been told yet. And that’s great because the stories that inspired me to want to make these kinds of movies haven’t been told yet. I’m quite excited about doing them.”
Kevin Feige, Marvel Studios president
The “sagas upon sagas” framing matches the multi-decade roadmap Feige laid out earlier this year, which runs through 2042. Casting younger actors gives Sink and Connor a decade-plus runway, closer to the comics’ early School for Gifted Youngsters than the battle-worn veterans of Fox’s films.
The MCU’s Road to X-Men
Avengers: Doomsday closes out 2026 on December 18, saying goodbye to the Fox-era cast — Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen and James Marsden reprise their roles — before Avengers: Secret Wars lands in December 2027. X-Men then opens May 5, 2028, with Ghost Rider following on July 28 and Black Panther 3 rounding out the year on December 15.
The MCU has already started seeding the team: Sink’s Jean Grey appeared in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, ending the film on a bus headed upstate — technically without killing anyone.
How many X-Men movies have been made so far?
Fox released 13 X-Men films between 2000 and 2020, from X-Men to The New Mutants, including the Deadpool movies and the solo Wolverine films. Feige’s ’10 great X-Men movies’ is his own highlights count.
Who is directing Marvel’s X-Men movie?
Jake Schreier, best known for directing the Netflix series Beef. He has described the film as drawing on the Claremont-era comics while doing ‘something new’ for the MCU.
Is Marvel planning more than one X-Men movie?
Yes. Schreier has confirmed a plan for multiple X-Men films, with Marvel framing the post-Secret Wars era as a ‘mutant decade’ — the same thinking behind Feige’s ‘sagas upon sagas’ line.
