The Mirzapur The Movie release date is set: Friday 4 September 2026, in Hindi and Telugu. The trailer arrived on Tuesday (11 August), eight years after the series first landed on Prime Video, and confirms Pankaj Tripathi’s Kaleen Bhaiya and Ali Fazal’s Guddu Pandit for the big-screen version. Amazon MGM Studios and Excel Entertainment present the film, with AA Films distributing.

The date lands on Janmashtami, and the release is theatrical only — Amazon MGM Studios and Excel Entertainment are taking the series to cinemas rather than commissioning a fourth season. The film is set in the world of season one, which is how Munna Bhaiya, killed at the end of season two, is back, and how Bablu Pandit, killed at the end of season one, is back too, now played by Jitendra Kumar.
The recast and the resurrection
Jitendra Kumar takes over Bablu Pandit from Vikrant Massey, who has become a considerably bigger star since season one. Kumar arrives with his own following from Panchayat, and said he hopes Bablu earns the same affection audiences gave his Jitu Bhaiyya.
Divyenndu returns as Munna and was asked the obvious question at the trailer launch. His answer was mostly a joke, and revealing anyway:
“To begin with it was a mistake. Everyone agrees. I am a Hindi film hero. I am immortal and nothing can happen to me.”

The makers have not explained the timeline. Amazon’s framing says the film remains rooted in the world established in season one, and with both Bablu and Munna present, a story set earlier in the chronology looks likely.
Who made it
Gurmmeet Singh directs, from a script by Puneet Krishna, who co-created the series with Karan Anshuman — the world is not being handed to an outsider for its cinema outing. Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar produce under Excel Entertainment. Akhtar put the film’s existence down to audience demand: “wherever I go, they always ask me when Mirzapur is coming… it is the fans who have demanded this movie.”
Mirzapur The Movie in UAE cinemas
AA Films handles the theatrical release, and Hindi releases of this scale usually land in the UAE the same day or a day earlier — though no UAE date is confirmed yet. Indian regional films claimed three of the top five spots at the UAE box office last week, and the three Mirzapur seasons remain on Prime Video for anyone who needs a catch-up before September 4.
