Apple TV has released the Slow Horses season 6 trailer, and it confirms Olivia Cooke’s return as Sidonie “Sid” Baker for the first time since season one. The six-episode season premieres globally on 16 September, the release date Apple confirmed in June, with one episode a week until 21 October.

Season six sees Jackson Lamb’s team on the run after Diana Taverner “embroils them all in a fatally high-stakes game of retaliation and revenge”, per Apple’s first-look announcement. The season adapts Joe Country and Slough House, the sixth and seventh novels in Mick Herron’s Slough House series — two books folded into one season.
Cooke played Sid Baker in season one and has not been seen in the series since. She is back in season six, and Apple is not saying how.
Gary Oldman returns as Jackson Lamb, with Kristin Scott Thomas, Jack Lowden, Saskia Reeves, Christopher Chung, Aimee-Ffion Edwards, Rosalind Eleazar, Joanna Scanlan, Samuel West, Ruth Bradley, Tom Brooke, Jonathan Pryce and Hugo Weaving. BAFTA winner Lenny Rush joins the cast. Gaby Chiappe adapts the season; Adam Randall directs. Oldman has collected Golden Globe, Emmy and BAFTA nominations for the role.
All five previous seasons hold a Certified Fresh score on Rotten Tomatoes, two of them at a perfect 100 per cent, and season five collected nine Primetime Emmy nominations, including Outstanding Drama Series. Not bad for a show about the spies MI5 gave up on.
