Yango has added powerbank rentals to its SuperApp in the UAE. Yango Group announced on 7 October that the new Yango Power service runs on the network of Ray, a UAE powerbank-sharing company, and is available in the latest version of the Yango app.

How Yango Power works

You scan the QR code on a Ray station inside the Yango app and pay through your existing Yango account, so there’s no second app or extra payment method to set up. You return the powerbank at any compatible station after use. Yango says a rental takes less than 8 seconds.

The service taps into around 600 Ray stations in shopping malls, restaurants, cafes, fitness venues and other public places. Yango Group has not published rental prices, so check the app for rates before you rely on it.

Who is behind it

Ray launched in November 2025 and says it has deployed more than 600 stations across the UAE, with a target of 1,300+ active stations by the end of 2026. It also says it is the first company in MENA to offer app-free rentals through tap-to-pay. Its in-house platform powers powerbank services under several brands in nine countries, which is what lets partners such as Yango plug in directly.

Islam Abdul Karim, Regional Head of Yango Group Middle East, said the aim was to make a charger as easy to reach as the other services in the app, without another download or registration. Yango Power sits next to the app’s ride-hailing, delivery, public transport schedules, car rental and navigation tools. It follows other recent additions to the ecosystem, such as Kids Mode on the Yango Yasmina smart speaker and Yango Play’s place in Samsung StreamPass.

Market context

The companies cite Data Insights Reports, which values the global powerbank-sharing market at close to $4 billion, growing about 14.7% a year. They describe GCC adoption as early-stage. Yango Group says it plans to bring the service to other markets where it operates, without naming them or giving dates.

Do I need a separate Ray account to rent through Yango?

No. You rent from inside the Yango SuperApp and pay with your existing Yango account.

Where can I return the powerbank?

At a compatible station on Ray’s UAE network, not necessarily the one where you picked it up.

How much does it cost?

Yango Group hasn’t announced pricing, so the app is the place to check.
