Apple has announced the 14-inch MacBook Pro with M6, and the UAE price is AED 8,499 (AED 8,099 with education savings). Pre-orders open tomorrow, Wednesday 28 October, on Apple’s online store and in the Apple Store app, with deliveries and Apple Store and reseller availability starting Friday 6 November. It comes in space black and silver, and it’s the entry model, not the touchscreen OLED redesign that we expect Apple to show at its Pro and Tell event.

AppleInsider describes the update as a modest refresh with no new enclosure and no M6 Pro or M6 Max chip. That matches what Apple’s release stresses: the chip, on-device AI and connectivity. The display, camera, speakers and ports are the same set Apple has used on this model before.

What M6 changes

The headline is core count. Apple says M6 has a 12-core CPU and a 12-core GPU, each with two more cores than before, and that the GPU delivers up to 30 percent faster graphics than M5. Apple also claims up to 25 percent faster on-device AI workloads such as LLM prompt processing. The company calls the CPU’s performance core the world’s fastest. Memory starts at 16GB, configurable up to 32GB, with bandwidth of up to 170GB/s.

The M5 figures come from our earlier M5 coverage, and the CPU count follows from Apple’s “two more cores” wording.

The AI changes sit in the GPU and the Neural Engine. Each GPU core carries a Neural Accelerator, and Apple says the Dual 16-core Neural Engine is up to 1.9x faster than M5’s. Apple says the pair speeds up image generation, Super Resolution and AI upscaling, and lets the laptop run LLMs locally while keeping data on the device. That continues the push from last year’s chip, which we covered as Apple’s biggest AI bump since M1.

Apple’s benchmark claims

Apple frames the M6 mainly as an upgrade for owners of older Macs. Against the 13-inch MacBook Pro with M1, it claims up to 13x faster time to first token for LLM prompt processing, up to 11.7x faster ray-traced Blender rendering, up to 3.3x faster image processing in Affinity, and up to 2.5x faster Xcode builds. Against the M5 model, the same tests show gains of 1.2x to 1.3x. That’s a steady generational step, not a leap, and it suits the AED price jump better as a case for M1 and Intel owners than for anyone on M5.

For those Intel and M1 upgraders, Apple adds practical gains: up to 14 extra hours of battery for Intel users and up to four more for M1 users, a starting 16GB of memory, an additional Thunderbolt port, and the anodised space black finish that resists fingerprints. The battery figure for M6 itself remains up to 24 hours, the same headline number as the M5 model, so this isn’t a battery upgrade over last year.

What carries over

The Liquid Retina XDR display reaches up to 1,600 nits peak HDR brightness with a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio, and a nano-texture option is available. Ports include HDMI, MagSafe 3, three Thunderbolt 4, an SDXC slot and a headphone jack, and the laptop supports up to two external displays. Apple lists a 12MP Center Stage camera with Desk View, a three-mic array and a six-speaker system. Fast charging reaches up to 50 percent in 30 minutes with a compatible higher-wattage adapter such as the 96W Power Adapter.

The laptop ships with macOS 27, which Apple calls Golden Gate. Apple says that release speeds up AirDrop, network file browsing and Safari start pages, and rebuilds the search index behind Spotlight, Photos and Mail. It also refines Liquid Glass with more uniform toolbars and edge-to-edge sidebars.

On materials, Apple says the machine uses 45 percent recycled content, including a 100 percent recycled aluminium enclosure and cobalt battery. It says this is the first time it has used 100 percent recycled tantalum in multiple capacitors. Apple says 60 percent of the electricity used in manufacturing across its supply chain is renewable.

Price and availability in the UAE

The 14-inch MacBook Pro with M6 starts at AED 8,499, or AED 8,099 with education savings. That’s AED 1,600 above the AED 6,899 the M5 model launched at in the UAE. In the US, AppleInsider reports a $1,999 starting price. Macworld says memory and storage shortages have already pushed up prices across Apple’s Mac range.

Pre-orders cover 35 countries and regions. Apple Trade In credit, year-round education pricing, AppleCare+ and Personal Setup sessions apply to direct purchases, and configure-to-order options are on Apple’s site.

Buy now or wait?

If your current laptop is an M1 or Intel MacBook, the gains in Apple’s tests are large enough to justify the jump. If you’re on an M5 model, they’re not: the M6 adds cores and some AI speed, and costs more. We recommend M5 owners skip this one, and our M5 MacBook Pro review explains why that laptop still holds up against Windows rivals.

Anyone who wants a touchscreen or an OLED panel has a different decision. MacRumors reports that OLED MacBook Pro models are expected at Apple’s Los Angeles event on Wednesday, and we’ve noted reports of a 6 November on-sale date for them. Bloomberg, as relayed by MacRumors, also says a redesigned M7 model is planned for the first half of 2027, which we looked at in our 2027 MacBook Pro rumours piece.

When can I pre-order the MacBook Pro with M6 in the UAE?

Pre-orders open on Wednesday 28 October on Apple’s online store and in the Apple Store app. Deliveries and Apple Store and Authorised Reseller availability start on Friday 6 November.

How much does the 14-inch MacBook Pro with M6 cost in the UAE?

It starts at AED 8,499, or AED 8,099 with education savings. Apple lists configure-to-order options on its MacBook Pro page, so the price rises with memory and storage upgrades.

Is this the touchscreen OLED MacBook Pro?

No. It keeps the current design and Liquid Retina XDR display. The OLED models are separate and are expected at Apple’s event on Wednesday.
