Apple has pushed iOS 27.2 to iPhones, and the headline change is a Siri AI that finally remembers what you talked about. The update is the first major release for iOS 27 and iPadOS 27, which launched in September, and it arrived on Monday 26 October. For UAE readers there’s a catch: the five new Siri AI languages are French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish, so Arabic is still missing, and English remains the only route in.
What Siri AI can do now
The main addition is conversation recall. According to Apple’s release notes, Siri AI can recall past conversations, so you can ask about something it told you before, such as restaurants it recommended last week. That makes the assistant behave less like a series of one-off queries and more like the chatbot Apple has been positioning it as.
Memory only helps if Siri has material to work with, so Apple has also widened the pool. Siri AI can now pull information from photos sent in Messages, attendees on Calendar invites and voicemails, and Apple says it has improved results from Safari history and the Reading List. The counterweight is a new privacy control. The Excluded Apps setting lets you stop Siri, Search and suggestions from accessing a particular app, and Apple’s notes say it’s managed from one setting. A smaller addition, granular text selection, lets you select and copy only the part of a Siri response you need.
These features have a hardware cut-off. As Engadget reports, they’re available on all iPhone 16 models and later, plus the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, while every iPhone gets the other 27.2 changes. Engadget adds that watchOS 27.2 gets the same Siri AI feature set, while macOS 27.2 includes conversation recall and Suggestions in Messages. MacRumors, which published Apple’s full release notes, notes that Siri AI isn’t available in the EU or mainland China.
What it means in the UAE
Language is where the UAE gap shows. Apple’s requirements page for Siri AI says the beta is available in most regions but needs the device and Siri language set to a supported language. The only exclusions it names are the EU on iOS, iPadOS and watchOS, and mainland China, and the UAE isn’t among them. In practice, that means an iPhone set to English gets the new memory, context and Excluded Apps features, while one set to Arabic doesn’t.
That was already the position in September. tbreak reported at the time that Siri AI launched as an English beta, with French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish due in October and Arabic absent from both waves with no announced date. iOS 27.2 delivers that second wave exactly as scheduled, so nothing has changed for Arabic. Bilingual users can stay on English, which tbreak described as a workaround rather than support.
The iPhone and the living room are also different stories. When Apple announced the fourth-generation Apple TV 4K earlier this month, tbreak noted that Siri AI launches in English in eight markets, and the UAE isn’t one of them. Engadget says Apple pushed 27.2 updates for Apple TV, Vision Pro and HomePod too, but doesn’t say whether that changes the market list, and we haven’t seen Apple confirm any change.

Beyond Siri, the update is a mixed bag that every supported iPhone gets. Apple lists profiles for the Apple TV app, a new icon and branding for Apple Music, and AI suggestions in Messages for quick actions in Calendar and Reminders. We covered the Apple Music rebrand when it surfaced in the betas. In Messages, Apple’s example is adding a Calendar invite for a dinner based on the conversation.
Photos gets two changes. Shared Albums lets you edit captions and comments and warns you before an album expires, and the app now supports Google’s SynthID watermarking to identify images created or modified with generative AI in Photos or Image Playground. The Podcasts Home tab splits into New Episodes and Continue Playing sections, and the Games app adds a Friends tab with more context on suggestions.
The iPhone Duo has its own notes. The foldable now supports the Apple Pencil and Edge Light for video calls. In the EU, the update adds an alternative expanded prompt for App Tracking Transparency.
To install it, we recommend going to Settings > General > Software Update on a charged iPhone with space to spare. One MacRumors forum commenter reported a 16.54GB download on an iPhone 17 Pro, so check your storage first.
