Yango has added Kids Mode to Yasmina, giving parents child-friendly responses, content filters, usage visibility, reminders, games and Safe Search through the Yango app. The update is designed for children using the smart speaker under parental supervision, according to the release published by Zawya.
Yango Yasmina Kids Mode adds parental controls
Kids Mode changes Yasmina’s responses for younger users, using simpler language and a warmer tone. It also restricts some content and lets parents review device usage time and the audio content played through the speaker.
Yango’s release says parents can set remote reminders for daily routines. Children can also use guessing games and word chains, alongside nursery rhymes, bedtime stories and children’s songs.
The update includes Safe Search, which is intended to return more age-appropriate results. Yasmina’s support documentation says the speaker can recognise whether the voice addressing it sounds like an adult or child, with voices up to 10–12 years old treated as children.
How to enable Kids Mode on Yasmina
Parents can enable Kids Mode and manage its settings in the Yango app. The company’s support page directs users to the Smart home with Yasmina section, then Settings and Virtual assistant, where they can turn on the child-understanding option and choose content restrictions.
The available settings include a stricter mode for small children, a Kids mode that blocks adult content, Moderate filtering and No restrictions. Yango says the filters can still make mistakes, so the feature is intended to work with parental supervision rather than replace it.
Yasmina speakers are already covered on tbreak, including the Yasmina Mini’s UAE launch and our Yasmina Midi review. Yango has not announced a new UAE price for Kids Mode in the release.
How do parents enable Kids Mode on Yasmina?
Open the Yango app, go to Smart home with Yasmina, select Settings and Virtual assistant, then enable the child-understanding option and choose the preferred content restrictions.
What age does Yasmina identify as a child’s voice?
Yasmina’s support documentation states that voices up to 10–12 years old are treated as children for content settings.
Can Yasmina’s child filters make mistakes?
Yes. Yango says its Kids, Moderate and For small children filters can sometimes fail, so the feature should be used with parental supervision.
