Xbox Rolls Out System Update to Tackle Forza Horizon 6 Save Loss Issues

The latest Xbox Series X|S system update improves game-save syncing reliability as Playground Games continues investigating reports of lost or reset progress in Forza Horizon 6.

Xbox Rolls Out System Update to Tackle Forza Horizon 6 Save Loss Issues

Microsoft has started rolling out a new Xbox Series X/S system update designed to alleviate the save-file problems affecting some Forza Horizon 6 players.

The latest Xbox console update was released on June 12, 2026, with OS version 10.0.26100.8561. Microsoft's official release notes describe it as a reliability fix for syncing game-save data.

Although the Xbox Support page does not mention a particular game, the timing is not a coincidence. Forza support has confirmed that the platform update is intended to alleviate issues that have caused some Forza Horizon 6 players to lose or reset their save progress on Xbox Series X/S consoles.

The Forza Horizon 6 Xbox Update Is Rolling Out Now

The issue has affected some players across Xbox and PC, with reports of game progress being lost or reverted to an earlier state.

According to Forza Support, Microsoft has already released the relevant PC fixes through the Gaming Services client. Xbox Series X/S players are now receiving the console-level platform update, although it may not appear automatically for everyone immediately.

Players can manually check for the update by opening the Xbox guide and navigating to Profile & system > Settings > System > Updates.

Forza Support has not said that the issue is completely resolved. Its wording is more cautious, stating that the update "alleviates" the lost-save problems. Players should therefore contine taking precautions until the investigation is officially closed.

Xbox Also Added a New Startup Animation and Gamerscore Badges

The save-sync patch follows a broader Xbox system update released on June 10.

That earlier update introduced a refreshed startup animation, which can be seen whenever a console starts from a full shutdown. Players who want to view it regularly will need to use the Shutdown (energy saving) power mode rather than leaving the console in sleep mode.

Microsoft has also added evolving Gamerscore milestone badges to player profiles. The badges are available to accounts with at least 1,000 Gamerscore and continue to change as a player’s lifetime score rises, with tiers extending as high as 10 million Gamerscore.

Other additions include new library filters that make it easier to distinguish owned games from shared titles, identify installed games that are no longer accessible, and hide incompatible games from the Full Library view. Microsoft is also rolling out a new Rewards experience to a subset of players and improving the sharpness of Gamerpics, achievement artwork and selected game box art on Xbox Series X consoles set to 4K output.

These features were previously tested through the Xbox Insider programme before being released more widely.
