The OLED Xbox Ally X20 is now a standalone pre-order at $1,300, with US shipping set for 15 October — no AR-glasses bundle required. Asus confirmed in July that the anniversary handheld would be sold on its own; this is the price attached to that promise.

That puts the X20 $300 above the original $1,000 Xbox Ally X, which stays on sale alongside the $600 Xbox Ally. Pre-orders are live at Best Buy and Asus’s own store.

For that money you get the same ROG 20th-anniversary machine The Verge handled at Asus’s US offices: a translucent black chassis with gold trim. The reason to buy it, argues Sean Hollister, is the new 7.4-inch 1080p OLED — “the clearest, fastest, and brightest on a handheld yet” — plus the comfier grips, a D-pad that rotates between 4-way and 8-way, and the absence of an Xbox “Library” button.

Xbox Ally X20 price and availability

At $1,300 the X20 is a mid-point refresh on the same internals as the Ally X: Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme, 24GB of RAM, a 1TB drive and the 80Wh battery, as laid out at its Computex debut. The screen and controls are the change, not the silicon.

The $2,500 bundle remains for anyone who wants the full kit: the handheld plus the 240Hz ROG XREAL X1 glasses (normally $849), a Dbrand Killswitch case and a branded Pelican carry case.

Hollister is frank about the X20’s standing. It is not the most powerful handheld — a Strix Halo machine like the $1,750 GPD Win Max 3 holds that title — nor the most affordable, but it might be “the most refined and comfortable to use among Windows handhelds. We’ll find out this fall.”

A standalone X20 has not been confirmed for the UAE; Asus’s Middle East store still lists the bundle as “get notified”. As a local benchmark, the current ROG Xbox Ally X (2025) sells for AED 4,199 on Asus’s ME store, and the standard ROG Xbox Ally launched here at AED 2,299 in October 2025.
