Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter will voice Bill and Ted in Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure: Arcade, a retro-style game reported by VGC. It’s coming to PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch, and PC.

Reeves and Winter played Bill and Ted in all three movies. It’s another recent voice role for Reeves, after voicing a samurai puppet in Hidari. Australian studio Art of Play Interactive is making the game. Its earlier modern retro titles include Danger Mouse, Lady Death: Demonicron, and The Phantom. According to VGC, it looks mainly like a side-scrolling beat ’em up in the style of 16-bit arcade games.

You “bag all the historical figures from the movie”, then challenge them to mini-games to earn their respect and a spot in your on-stage history report. You can play solo or in two-player co-op, with Bill and Ted together.

Art of Play plans a digital release plus a limited run of physical editions, including one in SNES-style packaging. To fund the final stages of development, the studio will run a Backerkit campaign selling exclusive merchandise, apparel, and digital and physical copies.

Backers will get a metallic phone booth card showing Rufus, George Carlin’s character in the movie. A $5 reservation will add Bill and Ted cards. Backing in the first 48 hours will add a fourth card showing historical figures squeezed against the glass, plus booth top and bottom cards that join everything together.

Art of Play also pledged not to use generative AI:

We are a strictly no generative AI studio across all our titles. This also extends to our trailer and supporting marketing materials.
