What was cut from Spider-Man: Brand New Day in India?
Bollywood Hungama reports that the Indian version of Spider-Man: Brand New Day has completely removed an eight-second kissing scene and some swear words.
The report has yet to be widely corroborated, and neither Marvel Studios nor Sony Pictures has publicly explained the edits. Crucially, there is also no official confirmation of who appears in the kiss or where it occurs in the film.
Eight seconds is still plenty of time for fans to put on the detective hat. One theory suggests Peter Parker and MJ could rekindle their relationship after Doctor Strange’s spell made everyone forget Peter in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Another suggests MJ could be kissing a different character while Peter watches.
Both ideas remain speculation. The edit confirms neither the characters involved nor the scene’s importance, so the spoiler hunt currently has considerably more enthusiasm than evidence.
Will UAE cinemas cut the same kiss?
No edit to Spider-Man: Brand New Day has been confirmed for UAE cinemas, and India’s reported cut does not establish what local audiences will see.
The film is confirmed to open in the UAE on 31 July 2026, with VOX Cinemas, Reel Cinemas, and Novo Cinemas among the named cinema chains carrying it. None of the available local information specifies a different cut, a censorship decision, or a regional version of the film.
Previous releases explain why the question is being asked. India removed the extended mid-air kiss between Superman and Lois Lane from James Gunn’s Superman, according to the source report. Oppenheimer was also altered in India and parts of the Middle East, with a CGI black dress used to cover Florence Pugh during a nude scene in some regional prints.
Those examples show that individual markets can receive altered versions of major films. They do not confirm that the UAE will receive India’s Brand New Day edit, or that UAE regulators have requested any change to the kiss.
Why could an eight-second kiss be a spoiler?
The kiss could reveal the direction of Peter and MJ’s relationship, but its participants and narrative context are still secret.
Spider-Man: No Way Home ended with MJ forgetting Peter Parker, leaving their relationship unresolved. A reunion would therefore mark a significant development, while a kiss involving MJ and someone else could underline how much Peter’s life has changed since the spell.
