Sony’s new “Only on PS5” ad has revived the exclusivity language that had largely disappeared since the console’s launch, turning the reported end of PC ports for its single-player games into a marketing message.

The advert is running across social media and lines up some of PlayStation’s biggest recent and upcoming titles: Marvel’s Wolverine, Saros, Gran Turismo 7, God of War Laufey, Astro Bot and Ghost of Yotei. “PlayStation 5 exclusive” appears throughout the footage.

Which games are in the “Only on PS5” ad?

None of the six has a PC version, and none has an announced PC port. Gran Turismo 7 received a PS4 version back in 2022 but went no further. ResetEra users also spotted that none of the games used “only on PlayStation” or “exclusive” in their own marketing before, Gran Turismo 7 again the exception.

Why the exclusivity language is back

Sony has been pointing this way since March, when Bloomberg reported that the company was pulling back from PC releases, with future single-player games staying PS5 exclusive. We covered the end of PlayStation PC ports in May, after Sony scrubbed references to first-party PC releases from its annual business report and PlayStation Studios CEO Hermen Hulst reportedly told staff that single-player titles such as Ghost of Yotei, Saros and Wolverine would remain console exclusives.

The new campaign’s voiceover spells the policy out plainly:

“These moments don’t happen anywhere else. So come and make the unthinkable happen. Only on PS5.”

Is Sony abandoning PC entirely?

Not completely. Live-service titles such as Helldivers 2 and Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls still launch on PC; the exclusivity promise covers the narrative single-player portfolio. That portfolio’s PC experiments had not exactly proven themselves, either — delayed and undercooked ports sold surprisingly few copies on Steam, and Bloomberg reported that a faction inside PlayStation worried the releases were damaging the console’s brand.

“A faction within PlayStation has also expressed concern that releasing their games on PC risks damaging the console’s brand and will hurt sales of the PlayStation 5 and its successors.”

Former PlayStation boss Shawn Layden publicly disagreed with the exit from PC releases, and Sony’s PC push had generated billions in revenue before the single-player pullback.
