Sony is bringing back see-through plastic. The company has announced the Prism Collection, featuring three transparent designs for DualSense wireless controllers and PS5 console covers: Flare Orange, Emerald Green, and Graphite Gray. The range launches from 4 February 2027, with pre-orders opening on 10 November 2026 at 10am local time, directly from PlayStation where available and through participating retailers.

Sony hasn’t named a UAE, Saudi or Egyptian price or retailer. The PlayStation Blog’s direct-order list covers the US, UK and mainland Europe only, and Sony says exact launch dates and availability may vary by region.

What’s in the range

The pitch is nostalgia with a modern finish. In a statement published on the blog, PlayStation design team member Leo Cardoso said the team wanted to bring back the iconic see-through trend of the late ’90s in a fresh, modern way that suits the PS5’s industrial design. His colleague Satoshi Aoyagi, also on the Color, Material, and Finish team, explained how that works on the controller. A high-gloss clear finish runs across the back, showing the technology inside, while a metallic finish on the middle cover ties the contrasting surfaces together.

The colours are tuned to the transparency. Aoyagi describes a vibrant orange that takes on a rosy hue where the transparent material overlaps, a deep hunter green that gains depth, and a cool-toned storm gray. Each console cover matches its controller, so you can buy the pair as a set or mix and match.

Pricing

Sony’s recommended retail prices are below. The blog notes that actual retailer prices and availability may vary, and the yen prices include tax.

ItemUSUKEuropeJapan (incl. tax)
DualSense controller$84.99£74.99€84.99¥12,480
PS5 console cover$74.99£64.99€74.99¥9,980

The two products also differ in distribution. The controllers will be available globally, but the covers will be sold exclusively through PlayStation directly where available, and in limited quantities through select retailers in other regions. The direct-order countries are the US, UK, France, Germany, Austria, Spain, Portugal, Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg. Since the Gulf and Egypt aren’t on that list, covers would depend on limited retailer stock, and Sony hasn’t said which UAE retailers, if any, will carry them. Controllers have the better chance of reaching regional shelves.

Another colour drop in a busy year

The Prism range lands in a year of constant DualSense variants. As reported by Insider Gaming, 2026 has already brought collaboration controllers for GTA 6, LISA, Marvel’s Wolverine and Marathon, and it’s been a while since a non-collaboration collection, with the Hyperpop range arriving earlier in the year. If you’ve been following those releases, we covered the GTA 6 limited-edition DualSense controllers and the Marvel’s Wolverine bundle with its Battle Yellow console cover. Earlier, the Ghost of Yōtei limited edition PS5 and controllers set the template for game-themed hardware.

Prism is the first of these to make the hardware itself the attraction rather than a game tie-in. VGC reports the announcement through the same statements Sony published, and the colourways are the only designs shown so far.

We recommend waiting for 10 November before committing, since that’s when Sony’s regional stores and participating retailers should show where the range will be sold and at what price. If you’re in the Gulf or Egypt and want the covers, check whether your usual retailer is listed, because the direct store isn’t an option here.

When can I pre-order the PS5 Prism Collection?

Pre-orders open on 10 November 2026 at 10am local time, directly from PlayStation in supported countries and through participating retailers elsewhere. The range launches from 4 February 2027, although Sony says exact dates and availability may vary by country.

How much do the Prism Collection controllers and covers cost?

The DualSense controllers are $84.99 / £74.99 / €84.99, and the console covers are $74.99 / £64.99 / €74.99. Sony hasn’t announced UAE, Saudi or Egyptian pricing.

Can I buy the Prism console covers in the UAE?

It’s not confirmed. Sony sells the covers directly in 11 listed countries, none in the Middle East, and says other regions get limited quantities through select retailers. The controllers are listed for global availability.
