Ubisoft has told fans not to expect another Assassin’s Creed remake any time soon. In its Fall 2026 Update, posted on 29 October, head of content Jean Guesdon gave an update on the multiplayer game codenamed Invictus and the darker Assassin’s Creed codenamed Hexe. He also addressed player speculation about more remakes following Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, and stressed that none are currently in development.
Remakes: paused, not cancelled
Guesdon framed Resynced as a learning exercise. He called it the franchise’s first-ever remake and said rebuilding old systems from scratch while balancing legacy and innovation was “a massive undertaking”. His statement is blunt: Ubisoft has no other Assassin’s Creed remake actively in development. The teams are instead working on the “next chapter” of the series, including unannounced projects with new settings and stories.
The wording leaves room for a change of mind. Guesdon told fans not to mistake the news for “a closed door”, adding that Ubisoft loves the idea of revisiting its classic titles and will keep exploring ways to bring older ones back. That’s a softer line than the one we’d have expected after Resynced’s launch. VGC notes the question had grown louder because of the remake’s reception, and Ubisoft’s own account is that Resynced was “well received”. If you’re hoping for Origins, Unity or the Ezio games to get the same treatment, nothing is in production yet.
Resynced itself is winding down. Ubisoft says its latest update is the game’s final major one, adding New Game+, Nightmare Mode, new finishers and cosmetics such as Blackbeard’s outfit. The update “marks the end of our current plans for additional major content”, with quality-of-life patches from Ubisoft Singapore to follow over the coming months. Our earlier coverage of the Black Flag remake’s new content and RPG upgrades shows how much the project grew between reveal and launch on 9 July.
Invictus changes course after Insiders feedback
The multiplayer project had its first private Insiders Session a few months ago, with hundreds of players trying an early prototype. Guesdon says the return of PvP went down well, and testers liked the parkour, the vertical maps, the team play and the chance to play as different Assassin’s Creed characters. The complaint was consistent, though. Players saw potential in the foundations but wanted more of the pillars that define the series.
Ubisoft says the team has spent the months since acting on that feedback, and Invictus is now “evolving” to reflect those pillars while keeping its multiplayer focus. There’s no release window, platform list or new test date. Ubisoft also warns that anything players find online about Invictus “may be incomplete, outdated, or inaccurate”, which reads as a pointed reply to leaks about a project that is still changing shape.
Hexe stays quiet until 2027
Hexe fares no better on timing. Guesdon says the team is making “steady progress” but there’s “still work ahead”, and that Ubisoft will share its next major update in 2027. He acknowledged the wait has been long. No platforms, date or gameplay detail came with it. VGC describes the game as a more horror-based take on the series which revolves around witches, though Ubisoft’s own post only calls it a darker Assassin’s Creed experience.
The project has had a turbulent run, and we’ve tracked some of that already, including another director leaving Ubisoft and a casting leak that outlined a new character roster. Ubisoft’s update doesn’t address either, and the leak remains unconfirmed.
Valhalla, Netflix and the 20th anniversary
The update also covers a few dates and plans beyond the in-development games:
- Valhalla: Ubisoft says the game has passed 40 million players and that New Game+ arrives on 5 November, with scaling built for repeat runs. It adds an optional progression mode, new runes, a stash system, Mithril for upgrading Divine Gear and a Master Assassin outfit inspired by Naoe’s look in Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Patch notes and current-generation console news are due “in the coming days”.
- Netflix series: production of the live-action show is nearing completion in Rome, Italy, and composer Hannah Peel has joined to score it. There’s still no release date, and we’ve covered its 64 AD Roman setting.
- Franchise leadership: the leadership team led by Martin Schelling is still defining the long-term vision. Ubisoft says it’s not ready to discuss specifics.
- 20th anniversary: the franchise turns 20 in 2027, and Ubisoft promises a year of reveals, updates and rewards starting then.
- Community survey: a new survey is open now on the Assassin’s Creed site, following the one run in March.
The anniversary and Hexe’s 2027 update point to the same stretch of the calendar, so next year looks like the earliest the series’ next direction becomes clear.
Is another Assassin’s Creed remake coming?
Not at the moment. Ubisoft says no other remake is actively in development, though Guesdon says the company will keep exploring opportunities to bring older titles back. Nothing has been announced or scheduled.
When will we hear more about Assassin’s Creed Hexe?
Ubisoft says its next major update on Hexe will come in 2027. It hasn’t given a release date, platforms or a specific month for that update.
When does Assassin’s Creed Valhalla get New Game+?
The update arrives on 5 November 2026. Ubisoft hasn’t yet listed platforms or a release time, but says patch notes and current-generation console details will follow in the coming days.
