FromSoftware has pushed The Duskbloods back to 2027, and it hasn’t said when in the year the Switch 2 exclusive will launch. The studio confirmed the move in a post on X, saying development is at the “final adjustment stage” and apologising to players who have waited. VGC reported that the game never had a specific 2026 date, only a release window.
The stated reason is rules and balance. According to VGC, the studio said the August network test showed active interest in the game’s combat, strategic depth and player expression, and that it wants time for final adjustments to game rules and balancing before launch. CGMag’s translation of the Japanese-language statement frames it similarly: the aim is a game that rewards positioning and varied strategy as well as direct fights. FromSoftware didn’t say which systems or modes will change, so the delay reads as a tuning pass rather than a rebuild.
That fits what we know about the test itself. If you missed it, our guide covers how the Duskbloods network test worked on Switch 2. VGC reported that more players applied for the closed test than for Elden Ring Nightreign, but also that the first session was marred by log-in errors. For a competitive online game, balance data from a large pool of testers is what a studio wants before it commits to a date.
The delay isn’t a shock, although it does reverse earlier signals. Twisted Voxel reports that FromSoftware and its parent company Kadokawa had reaffirmed the 2026 window after the network test. According to Notebookcheck, Kadokawa had also still expected a 2026 release in its Q3 fiscal 2026 report. With no date set by late October, VGC says players had been growing anxious about a slip.
The 2027 calendar is getting crowded
Early 2027 is already busy for Switch 2 owners and for everyone else. Fable has moved to February 2027, Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis also targets February and Crimson Desert has a first-half 2027 Switch 2 window. Wccftech argues that a launch from March onwards would suit The Duskbloods, because several big releases cluster close together early in the year. That’s the outlet’s view, not anything FromSoftware has said.
What we know and don’t
The Duskbloods is a multiplayer action game that mixes player-versus-player and player-versus-environment play, and Gematsu describes it as a PvPvE title for Switch 2. Twisted Voxel says it was revealed in the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct in April 2025 and is directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki. FromSoftware hasn’t announced a release date, a price or another test, and it hasn’t named other platforms. We haven’t seen UAE or wider GCC pricing or availability details, so there’s nothing regional to add yet.
When will The Duskbloods actually release?
FromSoftware has only said 2027, with no month or date. We’ll update this story if a date appears, most likely through a Nintendo Direct or the game’s official X account.
Is The Duskbloods coming to PS5, Xbox or PC?
VGC calls it a Switch 2 exclusive, and FromSoftware’s statement refers only to the Switch 2 version. No other platforms have been announced.
