MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls has launched to “Mixed” reviews on Steam, with 42% of 3,425 user reviews positive three days after release as PC players complain of mandatory PlayStation logins, no Linux support and performance problems.
The Arc System Works fighter, published by PlayStation, arrived on PC and PS5 on August 6. It was one of the year’s most anticipated releases: a cel-shaded take on Marvel’s roster, from Spider-Man to Doctor Doom, from the studio behind Guilty Gear. The launch weekend did not go to plan.
PSN requirement blocks more than 100 countries
The most common complaint is Sony’s demand that players link a PlayStation Network account. The rule has blocked the game in more than 100 countries where PSN does not operate, a detail players flagged back in July. Sony has been here before: Helldivers 2 shipped with the same requirement in 2024, and the backlash was loud enough that the company walked it back. Tokon keeps it.

No Linux support, no Steam Deck
Linux and Steam Deck owners are locked out entirely. The game’s Easy Anti-Cheat client is not enabled for Proton, and its absence was not disclosed on the store page. One of the most-liked reviews: “There is no good technical excuse for shutting out Linux here. Easy Anti-Cheat already supports Proton when developers enable it, and games like Marvel Rivals prove that an online Marvel title can make that effort.”
Performance problems on capable hardware
Players report frame rates that dip below 60, rollback spikes in online matches, and a settings screen that does not display correctly. “Such a fun game,” the top negative review begins. “Of course, Sony has to ruin everything.”
The reviews keep the two verdicts separate: the game is being praised, the port is not.

The studio acknowledged the reports on X:
We’re aware that some PC players are experiencing performance issues. The team is actively investigating these reports. Please keep your feedback coming in, it helps.
No patch timeline or specific fixes have been announced.
