Polyphony Digital has released Part 1 of Gran Turismo 7’s Spec IV update, a free download that adds a new circuit, six cars and a handful of new modes. Sony also used the occasion, the series’ 30th anniversary, to reveal a limited edition DualSense controller that opens for pre-order on October 22.

What’s in Spec IV Part 1

According to the PlayStation.Blog announcement, the update goes live at 11:00 pm PDT on October 14, which is 7:00 am BST and 3:00 pm JST on October 15. That’s 10:00 am in the UAE. You need an internet connection to install it, and the cars cost in-game credits (earned through progression or bought) at Brand Central.

The headline addition is Sportsland Sugo, a Japanese circuit with a flowing layout and plenty of elevation change. It arrives alongside new Sunday Cup events, six World Circuit events, new Scapes photo locations, Car Viewer features and an Experience mode. Sony’s suggested use for the Ferrari F355 is a lap of Sugo, while the Citroën 2 CV is pitched as a slow drive around the same track.

The six cars span a wide range of eras and intentions:

  • Xiaomi Vision Gran Turismo: an electric hypercar with a stated drag coefficient of 0.29, downforce of -1.2 and an aerodynamic efficiency rating of 4.1.
  • Ferrari F355 Berlinetta ’94: the Pininfarina-designed mid-engined V8 coupé.
  • Honda Civic Si Group A version ’87: based on the Mugen Motul Civic that won the 1987 All-Japan Touring Car Championship.
  • Mazda RX-Vision GT3 Evo ’26: a further-developed version of the rotary-powered GT3 concept.
  • Honda Step WGN Spada Premium Line ’23: a family minivan, which Sony suggests loading into Scapes.
  • Citroën 2 CV 6 Charleston ’86: the French people’s car, built for 42 years from 1948.

Anyone who hasn’t bought the game can try the free My First GT download on the PlayStation Store. Next, Traxion reports that the second half arrives in December with the Autumn Ring circuit, an altered GT Sophy, and Family Mode.

The 30th-anniversary DualSense

The Gran Turismo Limited Edition DualSense carries racing stripes and motorsport-inspired graphics, plus a textured, carbon-fibre-style front plate. Polyphony Digital CEO Kazunori Yamauchi says the announcement commemorates 30 years of the series and thanks the community. It follows a run of themed pads for big PlayStation franchises, including the GTA 6 controllers and the Ghost of Yōtei limited edition range, while on Xbox the racing crowd got the Forza Horizon 6 controller and headset.

Sony lists a recommended retail price of $84.99 in the US, ¥12,480 including tax in Japan, €84.99 in Europe and £74.99 in the UK, and says retailer prices may vary. Pre-orders open at 10:00 am local time on October 22, and the controller launches globally from December 10. Quantities are limited.

Direct pre-orders through PlayStation are listed for the US (via direct.playstation.com, from 10:00 am ET) and for the UK, France, Germany, Austria, Spain, Portugal, Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg (via playstation.com/store/hardware). Sony says other pre-orders go through participating retailers. We haven’t seen a UAE price or named UAE retailer, so check local stores from October 22.
