Apple is preparing an M6 iMac with fresh colour options, and it should ship before the end of the year, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, as covered by 9to5Mac. The new model would be the iMac’s first update in two years.

The iMac is not a frequent refresher. It skipped the M2 and M5 chip families, and the current 24-inch M4 model arrived in October 2024. Gurman says the refresh will bring “some new color options” without specifying which; MacRumors notes the current line-up runs to seven — green, yellow, orange, pink, purple, blue and silver. Apple reshuffled those shades when it updated the iMac in 2024, so a tweak fits the pattern.

Nevertheless, if you’ve been holding out for a new iMac, your wait shouldn’t be much longer. All signs point to the M6 models being close to launch, and you should be able to buy one before the end of the year.

No major design change is expected. A 24-inch OLED iMac is reportedly still several years off, and the more notable step is the chip: the M6 is Apple’s first processor on a 2nm process. There are reportedly no M6 Pro, Max or Ultra variants, with the M7 family accelerated instead.

The M6 iMac and a busy autumn for the Mac

The M6 iMac slots into what looks like a crowded end of the year for Apple’s computers. Touchscreen MacBook Pro models with Tandem OLED are reportedly on the way, along with M5 Max and M5 Ultra Mac Studios, and a refreshed Mac mini with M6 and M5 Pro is a later possibility. The iMac remains the all-in-one in the middle of Apple’s 2026 Mac line-up.

What the M6 iMac means if you’re shopping in the UAE

The current M4 iMac starts at AED 6,499 in the UAE. If you were already leaning toward one, the reported timing is the argument to wait a little longer: a 2nm M6 model with new colours before the end of the year. Pricing for the refresh is unconfirmed, and as with any Gurman report, nothing is official until Apple says so.
