Apple’s iOS 27 Home app will write text summaries of what your cameras see — people, pets, packages, cars — but MacRumors reports the Apple Intelligence camera caps sit far above the older HomeKit Secure Video recording tiers.

On the 2TB iCloud+ plan at $9.99 a month, you get AI summaries for one camera. Two cameras need the 6TB plan at $29.99. Up to five cameras need 12TB at $59.99. There is no unlimited AI-summary tier. Apple One Premier includes 2TB, so it inherits the single-camera AI limit.

That clashes with HomeKit Secure Video recording: one camera on the $0.99 50GB plan, five on $2.99 200GB, and unlimited cameras once you hit 2TB. Pay for “unlimited” HSV recording and you still unlock AI summaries on only one lens.

What the summaries do

MacRumors says the feature turns motion alerts into short descriptions using Apple Intelligence, recognising people, animals, vehicles, packages, and general motion. During beta coverage, Apple had already signalled a 2TB floor for video summaries; last week’s usage-limits detail filled in the per-plan camera counts.

Apple’s own wording, quoted by 9to5Mac from the “Learn about Apple Intelligence usage limits” support note: video summaries are available for a limited number of cameras by iCloud+ plan — up to one on 2TB, two on 6TB, and five on 12TB — and those counts may change.

iOS 27 AI Camera Summaries iCloud tiers vs HSV recording

Here is the mismatch MacRumors highlights, with US list prices as reported:

12TB — $59.99/moUnlimitedUp to 5

UAE list prices for the same storage tiers, from Apple Support (AE), taxes included: AED 3.99 (50GB), AED 11.99 (200GB), AED 39.99 (2TB), AED 119.99 (6TB), AED 239.99 (12TB). Those are storage prices, not a separate AI SKU.

Why subscribers are annoyed

MacRumors notes dozens of complaints on Reddit and its forums. The dry version: households that already bought multiple HomeKit Secure Video cameras for a 2TB plan expected the new Home Intelligence tools to cover the same set. Instead, Apple Intelligence Home camera features are a second, stricter meter.

We covered the hardware side earlier in Apple HomeKit AI Camera Search UAE: What Works and What Costs — Aqara, Logitech, and Eve options, and what actually ships locally. Compatible cameras still need the matching iCloud+ tier before the new summaries apply.

For launch-week context on the software drop itself, see iOS 27 release, Siri AI, and supported iPhones. On the Matter camera track that sits beside HomeKit, Aqara’s Matter-certified G350/G400 is the recent hardware marker.

Apple has also warned that other Apple Intelligence tools (Siri AI, photo editing, Image Playground) will face usage limits with paid headroom later; Home camera summary caps are the first concrete price ladder published. MacRumors separately flags rumours of Apple’s own security cameras and a monitoring service — still rumour, not a shipping product.

Prices and camera limits above are as reported by MacRumors and Apple’s published iCloud+/usage-limit notes. Check Settings → Apple Account → iCloud on your device for the live plan you’re billed on.

How much do iOS 27 AI Camera Summaries cost?

MacRumors reports Apple ties them to iCloud+: $9.99/mo (2TB) for one camera, $29.99/mo (6TB) for two, $59.99/mo (12TB) for up to five. No unlimited AI-summary plan was announced.

Is that different from HomeKit Secure Video?

Yes. HSV recording allows one camera on 50GB, five on 200GB, and unlimited cameras from 2TB up. AI summaries use a stricter camera count on the same storage ladder.

What do UAE buyers pay for those iCloud+ tiers?

Apple Support (AE) lists AED 39.99 for 2TB, AED 119.99 for 6TB, and AED 239.99 for 12TB (taxes included). Map those tiers to the AI camera caps Apple published for the matching storage sizes.

Does Apple One Premier unlock more AI cameras?

No. Apple One Premier includes 2TB of iCloud+, so MacRumors says it stays on the single-camera AI summary limit.
