IKEA Skyrim mod adds a Matt Berry-voiced KALLAX shelf

IKEA has released a free Skyrim Creation that adds KALLAX Storageborn, a sentient shelving-unit companion voiced by Matt Berry. The mod is available through the in-game Bethesda Creations menu and the Skyrim Creations website.

The IKEA Skyrim mod begins when the Dragonborn becomes encumbered. Players are sent to an abandoned Dwemer emporium, where a new quest leads them through the origins of a mysterious master and the problem Tamriel knows best: carrying too much stuff.

The quest lets players build Kallax Storageborn as a companion. The shelf can collect loot, tidy up a player’s home and store items, while a new Thu’um can summon it even when it is not the active companion. IKEA says the Creation is designed to remove the usual inventory-management headache without asking players to abandon the loot-hoarding habits that caused it.

KALLAX Storageborn comes with new loot

The Creation adds new items including the Allenblade and Meatball Helmet, alongside new enemies and the KALLAX companion. Its Bethesda listing describes “a new quest, new loot and a sentient shelving unit companion” built around clearing clutter from Tamriel.

The shelf is voiced by Matt Berry, known for What We Do in the Shadows, Toast of London and The IT Crowd. The project was made with Kinggath Creations, with creative agency Mother developing the campaign for IKEA. Creative agency Mother says the add-on was built around Skyrim’s long-running encumbrance problem.

KALLAX Storageborn is free and was released on September 9 through Bethesda’s Creations system for PC and Xbox, according to PC Gamer. It is a fairly involved way to sell a bookcase, but at least this one can carry the loot home.
