Monster Hunter Wilds confirmed for Nintendo Switch 2 this year

Monster Hunter Wilds Switch 2 launches on 4 December 2026, with local wireless play, cross-platform multiplayer and every Title Update released so far.

Monster Hunter Wilds Switch 2 release date and features

Capcom confirmed the date during Nintendo’s September Direct, following the earlier announcement that the game was being ported to Nintendo’s current console. The original report from Video Games Chronicle says the Switch 2 version will include the Grand Hub, Mizutsune, Lagiacrus and the Final Fantasy XIV Online collaboration from day one.

The port will support wireless local play and full cross-platform multiplayer. IGN’s corroborating report says local play will let up to four hunters team up, while the online mode will connect them with players on other platforms.

The Switch 2 edition arrives before Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance, which is planned for 2027 and will also come to Nintendo’s new console. The expansion’s trailer showed new monsters, story details and the Boost Bracer, which adds abilities through the Hunter’s Slinger.

A full-sized hunt on Nintendo’s smaller screen

Monster Hunter Wilds is already available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. The Switch 2 release gives Nintendo players access to Capcom’s current open-world hunting game without leaving their friends on other platforms behind. Capcom has not announced UAE pricing or local pre-order details in the sources checked.
