Google AI Voice Notes: Conversation Capture Leak Explained

Google's next voice notes tool records conversations, transcribes them, and lets Gemini summarise them. It could debut on the Pixel 11.

Google is working on a new AI voice notes tool. Conversation Capture — codenamed Auris — records conversations and turns them into searchable transcripts with AI summaries and suggested actions, and it can hand the results to Gemini.

The feature surfaced in the latest version of Google’s Android System Intelligence app, reported by Android Authority. The description strings are explicit: “Get summaries, transcriptions, and suggested actions after important conversations like appointments, meetings, and more.”

Google AI voice notes: what we know

It sits somewhere between Google’s Pixel-exclusive Recorder app and a personal assistant. Recordings get transcribed with speaker labels, a notification fires when processing is done, and you can then search the transcript, copy it, or share it with Gemini for follow-up suggestions.

A companion feature called Magic Cue can turn the conversation into calendar events and reminders automatically. There is a dedicated quick-settings tile and, per the teardown, the feature ships as its own app.

Privacy strings cover the usual ground: data is stored on-device and in the cloud, protected with end-to-end encryption, and not shared with Google “unless you give permission”. Gemini access is an explicit opt-in. The feature may initially require the Labs version of Google’s Private Compute Services.

When it arrives

Android Authority expects Conversation Capture to debut on the Pixel 11 series, which launches next week at Made by Google on August 12. The strings were found in a Pixel 11 build of Android System Intelligence, which is a strong hint but not a promise — teardown features have been shelved before.

Recorder, Google’s existing transcription app, has long been a Pixel selling point; Conversation Capture extends the same idea with Gemini doing the summarising. Google already sells an offline transcription app for iPhones, so the voice-to-text pipeline is a company-wide push, not a one-off app.

If Conversation Capture ships on the Pixel 11 as expected, it will land on UAE shelves with the phone — Google sells Pixel devices officially in the region. The event airs at 2AM Dubai time, with Trevor Noah hosting, and the device’s renders are already public.

What is Google Conversation Capture?

It is an AI voice notes feature, codenamed Auris, that records conversations and produces searchable transcripts with speaker labels. Users can get AI summaries and suggested actions, and optionally share the recording with Gemini.

When will Conversation Capture launch?

Android Authority expects it to debut on the Pixel 11 series, which launches at Made by Google on August 12. The strings were found in a Pixel 11 build of Android System Intelligence, but teardown features do not always ship.

Is Conversation Capture the same as Google Recorder?

Similar, but deeper. Conversation Capture adds Gemini integration, Magic Cue suggested actions, calendar events and reminders, and stores data with end-to-end encryption, where Recorder is a standalone transcription app.
