Charlie Cox has a message for Daredevil fans: start campaigning again. Speaking to IGN after the Marvel Television panel at New York Comic Con, the actor said he doesn’t know whether he’s finished playing Matt Murdock, and that the fans’ “Save Daredevil” push may decide that.
Cox arrived at the convention jetlagged from Dublin to talk about Daredevil: Born Again Season 3, which has been confirmed as the show’s last. Asked whether that means he has worn the horns for the final time, he answered: “Don’t know, man. I don’t know… It might be. It might be.” He then pointed fans away from Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige and towards the campaign itself: “Get the Save Daredevil campaign on the horn. Get them motivated. That engine, that won’t stop until there’s some resolution. That’s my true superpower.”
The comments aren’t a confirmation of anything beyond Season 3. They’re an invitation to make noise, from an actor who knows how that has worked before.
A campaign with a track record
According to CBR’s report from the panel, Cox joked “Wait, what?” when the moderator mentioned the show was ending, and the crowd booed the news. He then said he imagined the campaign “will be gearing up for round two”. Fans first rallied around the original series in 2018, when Netflix cancelled it after three seasons, through a petition and the #SaveDaredevil hashtag. The character later returned to the MCU in Spider-Man: No Way Home in 2021, and Disney announced the Born Again revival in 2022.
The Defenders return
Cox also talked about the Netflix-era team reuniting in Season 3. Krysten Ritter (Jessica Jones), Mike Colter (Luke Cage) and Finn Jones (Iron Fist) are back alongside him, a lineup that last appeared together in 2017’s The Defenders. Marvel Studios shared a photo of Cox, Jones and Ritter on the NYCC stage.

“I think there needed to be a full circle with that story,” Cox told IGN’s Jeffrey Vega. “There needed to be some kind of closure with it.” He said Marvel was “willing and able to bring them back and have a lot of fun with it”, adding that the cast are close friends and that fans seem to enjoy the dynamics between the characters.
He also joked about Colter “giving away spoilers non-stop”, a reference to the actor posting information on social media earlier this year that he shouldn’t have. “We had to ban him from getting sides on set!”
What we know about the future
Season 3 is the only confirmed instalment. Neither Marvel nor Disney+ has announced a fourth season, a new series or a further MCU appearance, and Cox didn’t claim otherwise. For recent Daredevil coverage, see Jessica Henwick’s decision to skip Season 3 and Kevin Feige on Kingpin joining a Spider-Man film.
