Warner Bros. has released the final trailer for Dune: Part Three, giving the trilogy’s finale one last push about seven weeks before it reaches cinemas. IGN has the Official Trailer 2, which the studio bills as the “epic conclusion” to Denis Villeneuve’s saga. Dark Horizons reports that Warner Bros., Legendary and IMAX also issued a new poster alongside it.
In a post on X, the film’s official account said the movie arrives “only in theaters and IMAX” on 18 December and that tickets are on sale around the world.
The story picks up nearly two decades after Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet) seized the Imperium. According to the studio’s synopsis, he’s now a ruthless Emperor haunted by visions of imperial collapse and the return of his long-lost love, while a conspiracy closes in with Chani (Zendaya) at its centre. Villeneuve co-wrote the script with Brian K. Vaughan, adapting Frank Herbert’s Dune Messiah. As reported by Dark Horizons, Villeneuve says the film leans further into thriller territory and carries more action than the first two instalments.
The cast is large. Dark Horizons lists Javier Bardem as Stilgar, Anya Taylor-Joy as Alia Atreides, Rebecca Ferguson as Lady Jessica and Robert Pattinson as Scytale, with Jason Momoa back as a new version of Duncan Idaho. Florence Pugh, Isaach De Bankolé and Charlotte Rampling also appear, and newcomers Nakoa-Wolf Momoa and Ida Brooke join them. Our look at the earlier trailer covers the Paul and Chani rift in more detail. The studio is also pushing Zendaya for a Best Actress nomination.
Formats and release date
The film was shot primarily on 65mm film, with some sequences in 15/70mm IMAX, and Dark Horizons says the desert scenes were filmed in IMAX Digital. In a post on X, IMAX said the film is “proudly presented in IMAX 70mm”, so large-format screens are central to the rollout.
For UAE readers, the film opens in cinemas on 17 December 2026, a day ahead of the US date, as covered in our earlier report. We haven’t confirmed whether UAE ticket sales have opened for the finale.
When does Dune: Part Three open in the UAE?
UAE cinemas get the film on 17 December 2026, one day before the 18 December US release.
Is Dune: Part Three coming to IMAX?
Yes. The studio’s tagline is “only in theaters and IMAX”, and IMAX has said the film is presented in IMAX 70mm. Which UAE screens will show it hasn’t been announced.
Do I need to read Dune Messiah first?
No. The film adapts Frank Herbert’s novel, but the trailers and synopsis explain the setup. It begins nearly two decades after Paul took the throne in Dune: Part Two, so rewatching that film is the better prep.
