A24’s Elden Ring movie could run close to three hours. IGN reports that, according to Deadline, Alex Garland’s screenplay “runs to at least 180 pages with visuals”, which implies a cut that pushes towards that mark. No runtime has been confirmed, and the figure is an inference from page count rather than anything A24 has said.

The script details came out alongside a bigger business story. Deadline reports that the film is heading to next month’s American Film Market in Los Angeles with a budget of USD 175-200 million, closer to the top of that range. That backs up the earlier report that put the cost near USD 200 million and makes it A24’s most expensive film. A24 is fully financing it, so the market push is partly about sharing the risk.

Amazon is the first partner. According to Deadline, Amazon MGM Studios has bought a large batch of international pay-1 streaming rights, a deal sources speculate is worth tens of millions of dollars. Inverse explains that pay-1 means the first streaming window after the theatrical and digital release, and that the deal covers only certain foreign markets. The territories haven’t been named, so it’s unclear whether the Middle East is among them. Deadline also hears the arrangement could lead to “activations” on Twitch, which Amazon owns, though nothing is confirmed. According to GameSpot, A24 and Amazon declined to comment.

What’s known about the story

Plot details are being guarded. Deadline’s sources say Kit Connor, the Heartstopper actor, plays the protagonist and that the “faithful” film follows his journey, with battles against monsters and dragons. A24 is also restricting access to the screenplay. Potential international buyers can read it only with a studio staff member present, and Deadline reports that some sections are withheld.

Buyers at AFM will reportedly get a presentation, possibly including the first footage. Filming wrapped in July, and the film opens in theatres and IMAX on 3 March 2028. Alongside Connor, the cast includes Ben Whishaw, Cailee Spaeny, Tom Burke, Havana Rose Liu, Sonoya Mizuno, Jonathan Pryce, Nick Offerman and Peter Serafinowicz.

Studios are courting gamers well ahead of release elsewhere too, as with the free Odyssey Roblox game that landed before Nolan’s film. For Elden Ring, the first look at footage at AFM is likely to be the next real signal of how the film is shaping up.

Will the Elden Ring movie really be three hours long?

Not confirmed. The estimate comes from Deadline’s report that the script runs to at least 180 pages with visuals, and A24 hasn’t announced a runtime. Final length depends on the edit.

When does the Elden Ring movie come out?

It’s scheduled for theatres and IMAX on 3 March 2028. A24 hasn’t announced a regional release plan for the UAE or the wider GCC.

Where will Elden Ring stream in the UAE?

Unknown. Amazon MGM Studios reportedly holds pay-1 streaming rights in a large number of international markets, but the countries haven’t been disclosed, and the first streaming window follows the theatrical run.
