Apple’s study behind the Apple Watch Series 12 health claim involved 1,460 adults across five sites in the US and Malaysia. Apple says the watch delivered statistically better heart-rate accuracy than every comparison device in the test, although the study was commissioned and conducted by Apple.
The study compared Apple Watch Series 12 with leading wearables, including smart rings and fitness bands, during running, cycling, high-intensity interval training, strength training and ordinary activities. The everyday tests included resting, desk work, meal preparation and walking — the sort of conditions in which wrist movement and changing heart rates can make optical sensors less reliable.

Apple Watch Series 12 health accuracy: what the study measured
Of the 1,460 people enrolled, 1,254 contributed at least one paired measurement to the final analysis. Across 159 individual activity and measurement comparisons, Apple says Apple Watch produced statistically better results in 139.
Apple describes the Health Sensing System as combining redesigned optical and electrical heart sensors with signal-processing algorithms. The company says the system supports higher-frequency heart-rate and heart-rate variability measurements, as well as the new readiness score.
That wording needs a qualifier. This is an Apple-conducted study using commercially available wearables, so it supports Apple’s claim about the test results rather than acting as an independent industry-wide verdict. The full nine-page study is available from Apple, while 9to5Mac’s report includes the testing details.
Apple Watch Series 12 release date and UAE availability
Apple Watch Series 12 opened for pre-order in the UAE on September 9, according to Apple’s launch announcement, with shops expected to have it from September 18. Tbreak’s earlier coverage lists the watch from AED 1,599 in the UAE; check the current Apple UAE listing before buying because configuration and retailer pricing can differ.
The Series 12 is already covered in our UAE pricing and readiness report, and the Apple Watch buying guide compares it with the SE 3 and Ultra 4.
Apple’s headline is based on a real dataset, but it is still Apple’s dataset. The claim is useful evidence for shoppers comparing health tracking, not a substitute for medical equipment or clinical advice.
